Got a great deal on tires, thought I'd share.

Wife needed tires for her Expedition (I know, a Ford.....:(), so I did a little research. Needed some 285/70/17's (yes, it has a 3 lift, I can't leave anything alone). https://www.tirebuyer.com/tires/ironman/all-country-a-t/p/style/71156#sizes Ran me $564, tax included for the 285's, with free...

Basically the same thing, but with nylon bristles instead of pieces of sandpaper.

What made you go with an SUV over a Truck?

Agreed. Had to install a couple of storm doors for a customer on Wednesday, he had a brand new 2017 Tahoe with all the bells and whistles, said it was over $80 grand. and he paid cash. In the meantime, the storm doors are going on a converted garage (into a small apartment), between two...

Pete's (Now Nate's) 2003 Denali Budget Build thread

Dude, Mad Dog 20/20 was the SHIT back in the late 80's/early 90's! One bottle at $4.95, and you were toast. Lights out, ladies and gentlemen. Please leave the drunken ******* on his bed before exiting the dormroom, and please lock the door on your way out.....

Pete's (Now Nate's) 2003 Denali Budget Build thread

I certainly hope it doesn't strike someone else the same as me, otherwise you're just as fucked up in the head as I am..... But this pic makes me think of a sequel to the CARS movies, with Lightning McQueen... Maybe CARS 17, where Lightning McQueen (driven ham-handed by Wreck-It Ralph!)...

    Painted my wheels!

I'd scuffed up the wheels with an 80 grit Flitz wheel, there's plenty of "tooth" for the paint to hold on to. Already have two coats on, going to put on a third and call it done. I saw the gunmetal, and bought a can to try it out, painted a few small things with it. Loved how it came out, so I...

    1998 2 Door LT Resto

I'm also in the Northeast, Central NY to be exact. I agree with you that the bolt-on kits are probably simpler, but at a substantial cost difference. My '01 Suburban needed a new rear end, I got one at the local yard for a measly $70. They pulled it for me, and had it waiting for me for...

Anyone on a budget wanna roll on 20's?

    Third row conversion

You may be right. I haven't specifically looked for a Tahoe or Yukon without the 3rd row, so I can't say I'm 100% right. You never know what you have until you actually start tearing into it!

    Third row conversion

Yours may or may not have the mounts installed. If you want to, you can go to a junkyard and cut out the rear section of floor of one that has it. Then, lay it down on top of your existing floor, and mark the locations, and cut them out. Lay the entire panel on top, run multiple tack welds...

    Painted my wheels!

I posted last fall that I got a set of Denali 20's, and I was planning on having them stripped and redone. Yeah, fat chance of that happening.... the only shop within 100 miles said they'd most likely run around $120 each. Hell, I could get some brand new Raceline Gunner wheels for that price...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I think EVERY one of those are coming from Hong Kong, it's just a matter of which of the thousands of 12 yr old girls in the factories made it.... I would be more than happy to be able to get just the bulbs and fins. The ballasts work fine.

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Where'd you get the replacements from? Those look identical to the ones I have, but I got mine off E-bay. I had one die on me less than 2 weeks after installing them, the seller sent me a complete kit for $15 shipped. I now have one of the two LED's out in my driver's side, I need to have a...

Drivetrain - building it yourself will be much more rewarding (if you have the time and/or the mechanical inclination). And you can go as wild as you want. Don't bother with a chip. I'd probably go with a TB from a 454, and if you're doing headers, DEFINITELY go long tubes, with an EGR delete...

Just picked up this 05 Tahoe

Noice!!!! 4k for an '05, in that kind of shape? I'm so jelly right now..... Paid $4200 for my '04 XL with 184K on it August of last year. And it had (still has!) little quirks in it to be fixed.

    Want fog lights, need opinions

Mine may not be the same brand, but I have the exact same - 7" x 36w Cree's. All I needed to make mine fit was to fab up a piece of 1/8" x 1 1/2" x 4" steel, and drill 5/16" holes 2" apart. Bolted the steel to the holes in the top of the opening (steel toward the engine), and then bolted the...

Tire size question for new wheels.

285/65/18's are almost exactly the same size as 285/75/16's, so those will most likely fit with nothing more than turning your factory torsion bars, and then an alignment. 275/70/18's MIGHT be too tall..... but that;s only if you are unwilling to trim some plastic and inner fenderwell sheet...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Nope, replacement shocks are MonoMAX for a 2-5" lift. Mine isn't leveled, I have Z71 springs and 2" spacers, rear fender heights are 40 1/4", while the fronts are at 39 1/2" (have 285/75/16's for tires). I don't know how some guys are getting 41" or more on the fronts, my UCA's would almost be...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Finally got around to installing the LCA bumpstops I bought in December of last year. Took them to the grinder to maximize contact area with the factory bumstops. Not perfectly centered, but pretty close. Can't say I've noticed a huge difference, but it does seem like the front end is...

    Tires and Road Noise

My current General Grabber ATII's are a GREAT option. The only time I've detected any road noise is when I caught a pebble in between the lugs, and that was a simple fix... Great manners on the road, very capable on dirt roads and trails. Not a mud tire, but still does decent in mild slop. And...

    Lets talk about tires?

Stock with no lift or level, 275/55/20's come factory, 275/60's are just about an inch taller, you can get away easily by not having to do anything more than a couple turns of your t-bar keys. I've just picked up some 275/65/20's, to mount on some '08 Sierra 20x8.5's. Will be going on my 04XL...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

If you're lowered (and you are), I don't think they'll fit without rubbing. How much do they scrub at full lock? could you simply add a 1/4" shim/spacer?

Wanting to go bigger on tires

285's on stock wheels, should have ZERO clearance issues. The 295's might rub when the suspension is maxed out or at full lock, but could easily be rectified with a sawzall.

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

And finally, the lid: Have a little carpet left over from the rear subwoofer enclosure, wrapped the curves: I have some darker gray (almost black) carpet I got from Parts Express, along with another 4" port, and some 2" ports I'm going to use to trim out the holes for the lighting. Also...
