that makes a whole load of sense and no those options were not offered to me at the dealer. I do feel the issue with the trans was pretty bad and it was at 150k miles which from everything I researched suggest was about the time they go out, however like you I feel everything can be fixed once...
Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread, here is the final update.
I bit the bullet and finally took it to the main dealer for diagnosis and repair. As expected the transmission had failed, their recommendation was to replace it, which they completed and I just got the car back...
Swapped out the motor and that did not do the trick. Here is a video showing the operation after the new motor installed, therefore I think the issue might be to do with the latch on the tailgate because something is stopping the motor advancing to open the tailgate, like a safety switch is not...
Replaced both lift struts but has not fixed the issue. The symptoms remain the same, I am unsure if I should tackle the lift motor or the switch/lock on the tailgate.
The later seems to be working as I can operate it manually therefore I think something is up with the lift motor itself
current costs from dealer for replacement trans
Your cost is $2502.00 plus a $500.00 plus tax.
It has a 3 year 100,000 mile warranty in installed at a shop.
Hi,
I am about to replace my trans on my 2007 Yukon XL and I am looking fir a recommendation on where to get one from.
Any suggestions or links to other posts on same topic welcome
ok, I am going for a full replacement trans and TechM, decided to keep the car and get another 100k out of him.
Need advice on best replacement trans and techm please
You don't think a replacement TechM is the right first step. All the feedback to date has been focusing on that and the bad noise is coming from that unit not the transmission itself
Upon closer inspection to the wiring loom I noticed some rodent damage.
Nothing seems to be chewed through but could they still be shorting?
Is it possible this level of wire damage could effect the transmission?
Thanks, I have watched this a couple of times now. What is not clear is was the lift motor faulty or was the door latch fault causing the lift motor to not engage
thoughts?
