From Lexus to Chevy?

I've driven 2 Tacomas, think 2008 and 2012. Then 2 4Runners 2016 and 2022. Never had an issue.

GX550. Squealing brakes and fluttering hood so far.

So guess worried about reliability in general.

Hi all!

I am debating moving from Lexus to Chevy. I haven't been in Lexus long, but have driven Toyotas for 20 years.

I have a new GX550 Lux+ and it is just too small and uncomfortable. I thought it would be perfect coming from 4Runners, but no.

So I started looking and saw the new refreshed Tahoe for 2025. So I now seriously considering moving from the GX550 to a High Country 2025 Tahoe with Diesel.


Am I making a solid choice here or asking from problems?

I have had 3 Lexus GX and 2 Lexus LX and got rid of the LX 600 in July and went to the GMC Yukon. This has more room, better electronics and is more comfortable than the Lexus LX. I left Lexus when they recalled the LX600 because of an engine defect and said they were going to replace engine but had no idea when they would start this. To me this was a safety problem and the recall was for about 3000 LX’s and close to 100,000 Tundras withe the same engine.
Between my wife and I we have had about 15 Lexus vehicles (she drives the LS) since they went into production over 30 years ago.
She is keeping her LS but we only put about 4000 miles a year on her cars.

Well, the GX550 seems cramped compared to 4Runner. Things have popped up I did not notice on the short test drive.

The second row captain seats do not move. Cramped. Hardly any storage up front to speak of. Doesn't even have a space for sunglasses. The cool box center console is laughably small and useless. Gas milage is bad (which is OK) but the darn gas tank is tiny and I'm refilling every 250/300 miles. Tahoe with diesel would become the family trip hauler, currently that is a Lexus TX350. Nothing on there like the Chevy Cruise which looks nice. I do have a boat (24 Pair Custom) and the Tahoe would probably handle better. The Mark Levinson sound system SUCKS! The top of the interior doors are pointed and extremely uncomfortable to rest my arm, I have a bean bag I put in place now to help.

I'm just nervous to get into something that might give me issues. I won't keep anything more than 5/6 years and will always buy the extended warranty.

Extended warranty… got these last week. Still deciding which one.. i am pretty pleased with my 2024.

I went to a '23 Denali after an '09 Tahoe (and '02 Tahoe prior to that), so I've been driving the platform for over 20 years. I absolutely love the look of (and just about everything else about) these trucks, and so I might be willing to put up with more than you are -- or maybe not. I'm of the mind that if something goes wrong with the truck, GM is going to fix it. But in the meantime, it's an absolute pleasure to drive and look at -- and no other truck was going to satisfy my personal criteria for this vehicle.

There have definitely been some common issues with these trucks, but we on an enthusiasts' site are probably going to be the most aware of them. Still, a lot of us wouldn't trade our trucks for something else.
