How would I do that, there are no obvious power points on the motor to connect a supply?
I suspect a failed worm drive in your motor based on what I’m seeing on the output shaft after you removed the gear. I would see if there is one in a local junk yard that you can swap in. A new AC Delco motor is $275 on RockAuto.

Swapped out the motor and that did not do the trick. Here is a video showing the operation after the new motor installed, therefore I think the issue might be to do with the latch on the tailgate because something is stopping the motor advancing to open the tailgate, like a safety switch is not tripping or something
