    What octane fuel ?

Well my 5.3L got its best gas mileage with regular 89 and not at 87 or 93. Before the 93 tune I was able to get 20-21 mpg on my '02 Z71 Tahoe on the highway at 70-75 mph.

    What octane fuel ?

No, I haven't heard about this, but E85 ruins your engine and you get horrible gas mileage with it. As for the octane, I would at least run 89 (if you're rated at 87). I use to run 89 on my '02 5.3L until I got it tuned for 93. With a grade higher than recommended you should be able to prevent...

    Question for 4WD guys

Because the 4WD system is engaged all the time in this setting and WILL ruin your front steering/axle components along with possibly your transfercase. If you engage it in 4WD, turn the truck, and drive you'll feel the truck pop and skip as you drive (while turning). This puts stress on the...

    lost 3rd and 4th gear

Transmission cooler. I have the stock one on there and installed a B&M trans cooler on there as well. My hoe has 170k and the trans is still going strong (knocking on wood).

Took a trip and came back with a new project

He has a 2007 Monte Carlo SS (5.3L) and it only has 2 O2 sensor on it. The rear started to throw codes with the installation of the high-flow cat, so he disabled it with an HP tuner. And yes, the rears tell the computer if the cats are doing a good job, and the fronts tell the computer if you're...

Took a trip and came back with a new project

Well I replaced all 4 O2 sensors and it costed about $250 (just an FYI). Even though they were kinda expensive for O2 sensors, they really smoothed out the engine at all speeds (so I recommend them). As for the high-flow cats, I would do some research on this because some vehicles tend to start...

Black Bear Performance Tuning Houston, TX- Feb 19-21 2010 Timeslots

All I can say is SWEETNESS!!!! And funny when Justin gets a little bouncy when I floor it going 25mph. The only thing that I would have Justin check is the torque converter locking during shifting. I have an '02 Z71 Tahoe and noticed that the stock tune had a locked torque converter during the...

    Brake options

Well the YellowStuff brake dust has really calmed down and put out as much as stock ceramic pads (which is unnoticeable). I'll give an update after I've put a few miles on them (just cleaned the truck).

    Reduce engine power???????

+1. I have heard something like this happening along with other things at the same time. The engine reduced its power and threw other codes, because there was a cracked spark plug on the engine. If I remember correctly it also through messages like service Stabilitrak, etc. Make sure you get it...

    Brake options

I didn't do anything other than putting a set of EBC yellowstuff pads, and they work pretty dang good. They decreased my stopping distance by a lot (probably not as much as a full blown kit, but still). And the initial bite was a huge improvement over the stock ceramics. The only thing I didn't...

    Armor All

I always heard that their formula would dehydrate the plastic/vinyl of its oils. It brings the oils to the surface and gives you that shine, but at the expense of your trim/interior. Unless they have changed their formula I would stay away from it. I use Meguiar's, and it's been pretty good to...

"The third cause is the track bar. My lift kit didn't feel the need to supply a longer track bar, they felt all that was needed was for you to merely drill a new hole in the axle bracket, this is not a permanent solution at all. I managed to blow out the ball joint at the end of the track bar...

    CL supercharger find. Good deal?

Bearings are nice and all, but more than likely you're going to want to go with better connecting rods. The connecting rods will be taking a lot of the stress of the added compression. I'm pretty sure that's one of the things that they mean by beefing up "some" internals. It would be wise to...

New to the forum & have major problems...Help!

What exactly do you mean by this? Have you tried lifting the truck and trying to move the wheel? When the truck is lifted (in the front, one wheel lifted at a time), check for play from the wheel. Grab your wheel on the right and left and pull the left side and push on the right side then vice...

Does anyone know the year they discontinued the cabin air filter? Was this only in trucks/SUV's or for all GM vehicles?
