I'd love to do Brembos, I have a set that is going on my Lightning, but $4,500 for brakes on my daily driver won't work. Has anyone on here upgraded their brakes?? Wilwoods?? dimpled/slotted rotors?? Brand??

I need to replace them pretty soon, and going to lower it 2/3" as well

I didn't do anything other than putting a set of EBC yellowstuff pads, and they work pretty dang good. They decreased my stopping distance by a lot (probably not as much as a full blown kit, but still). And the initial bite was a huge improvement over the stock ceramics. The only thing I didn't like about them is the amount of brake dust that they produce. Lately it hasn't been that bad at all (unnoticeable), but I don't know if it's because of the colder weather or the "break-in" coating wearing off. And the break-in period was kinda weird to me. The break-in period was like 500 miles of calm braking before you were allowed to do some pretty hard braking, but they were still better than stock pads during the breaking-in period.

I have Wilwoods that I purchased used on this forum. They ended up costing
me almost $2300. If I were to purchase them new from Wilwood it would have cost me almost double that.

I like EBC, had them on my Lightning, the greenstuff pads actually didnt have that much brake dust

EBC slotted sport rotors and EBC green stuff pads (~$325 for front setup). IMO for a daily driver SUV this is more than adequate. I doubt there is much of a difference with the other brake packages unless the rotors are increased in diameter. Even then, ABS will be the limiting factor and then there is the potential that the brake force distribution (between front and rear) may need adjusted to take full advantage of the big brake kit.

+1. I am running this same set up with the EBC slotted and dimpled rotors and pads and I have been very impressed. This set up came very highly recommended from the shop I have do all my work (Olympic Offroad). Especially for towing or running larger wheels. They do a great job of keeping cool with the slots and dimples, but do not loose any structural integrity from being fully drilled.

If you are not looking to do a major brake upgrade, this is the best way to go in my opinion. Also, there is really no need to swap the rotors in the rear as these trucks do about 80% of braking up front. I would do EBC rotors in front and green stuff pads all the way around and maybe upgrade to a stainless brake line. That would be a very nice upgrade for under $1K installed.

I decided to go with EBC drilled/slotted rotors in the front/rear and greenstuff pads, ordered from summit today, going to put the hoe on the lift and have the calipers powdercoated while I wait on the brakes

Gotta love having your own lift at your house :rocking:

Well the YellowStuff brake dust has really calmed down and put out as much as stock ceramic pads (which is unnoticeable). I'll give an update after I've put a few miles on them (just cleaned the truck).

Nice! Just follow their break-in procedure. EBC break-in was different than what I am normally used to. Wish I had a lift at the house!
