    Transfer case or front diff

First thing is to measure your backlash and see what you have. Pulling the front driveshaft will allow you to check axle and t case individually

    Transfer case or front diff

There should be threaded adjusters but the stub axles would need to be removed to reach them. I think, at this point, it's check & see if backlash is ok. If not u are working your way t a rebuild

    Transfer case or front diff

I found the backlash spec in the FSM. 0.003-0.010" permissible, 0.005-0.007" preferred. There's an odd note about dividing the b/l reading by 2 in order to get the actual reading. It's Pg 4-89 (not exactly sure how to post a .pdf). Early 246 t-cases used regular Dex III. Autotrac fluid...

Fuel trim, short and long. wierd values (OBD)

Yep, I'd keep looking for the leak. There's a flange right behind the cats that's exceedingly difficult to seal. For some unknown reason GM put one of the secondary O2 sensors just behind it. You can have a very minor leak (barely feel air puffing out but can't hear it) and it will trip a...

    Transfer case or front diff

The axle shaft play looks about right. The stub shafts are held in with C clips so there'll be some end play. The front diff looks a bit suspect though. I'd have to look up the spec for backlash but on the 10 bolt I just rebuilt it was 0.005-0.009". You have a lot more than that. Skipping...

Help with ABS system, scanners do not find ABS

Before condemning the ABS module can you find someone with a Tech 1 or 2? The Tech 1A has 3 different programs : Power train, Chassis, & Body. If I remember correctly Chassis is used for ABS, and Body is used for EVO power steering and Airbag. If the factory scanner can't find it then yes...

    gas smell

I put a Spectra premium tank in mine. Made in Canada and it was a good quality unit. Amazon's free shipping came in handy...the UPS guy commented that the 44 gal tank was a PITA to haul around :).

Incorrect valve lash can create misfires

Glad you found a solution! Had you done any engine work that required pulling heads, valve train, etc? I know the engine would run like crap if the lash was way off. I had a '93 4.3L that needed new valve stem seals. Fel-Pro instructions said 1/2 turn from snug, FSM said 1 full turn. I did...

    brake and steering issues

Here's one of the writeups I followed. It's an adapter and minor bending of MC to ABS brake lines. http://www.gmt400.com/threads/how-to-nbs-master-cylinder-swap-for-firm-brake-pedal.17998/ @ 170K miles you're probably due for a front end rebuild. Lower ball joints, pitman arm, and idler arm...

    Misfiring issue

New coil doesn't necessarily = good coil. Do you have the old one or can you swap it for another? I've had so many crappy new parts it isn't even funny. I had a bad Wells coil out of the box on a Grand Am and it took me forever to figure that out. Would run perfect for 20 min or so then die...

    2015 Tahoe frame RUST!!!!

I'd give GM he&& and see if you can get some kind of extended warranty, undercoating, etc from the dealer. My '98 was sold new at Quirk Chevy (near Boston) and I got her when she was 8 yrs old. The MA/NY salt did a number on her. I've spent a lot of time replacing fuel lines, brake lines...

    2015 Tahoe frame RUST!!!!

Wow. I'm assuming you live/drive in the rust belt states? I've seen rust proliferate like that but it was on an '88 Isuzu pickup I brought from FL to NYS. The truck was immaculate but one upstate NY winter made heavy rust break out all over the underbody and frame. Of course you'd think the...

    brake and steering issues

The NBS master cylinder upgrade makes a world of difference. It fits the booster and requires minimal changes to the existing brake lines. My pitman arm and idler arm both seemed ok but were loose & sloppy once I got them off the truck. I've replaced everything and the steering still isn't...

    Misfiring issue

I stand corrected. I looked up the dizzy & ignition system in the factory manual and it's an "HVS" system. I believe HVS=high voltage switch but I didn't find the acronym in the index. DallasTahoe: Those parts look awful for 1K miles. Do you have any additional info on your current coil...

Optispark II is very picky when it comes to caps & rotors. That could definitely cause your intermittent misfire. How many miles on the cap? 20K?

    Headlight removal

No problem. Make sure you have a tube of 5 minute epoxy, JB Weld, etc handy. You'll probably end up needing to epoxy the nut back to the headlight assy.

Interesting OBS Yukon You May Or May Not Heard Of

Nice truck! I've never seen one of those. Assuming it's as nice as described his price is still at least 2x too high, IMO. A '99 Suburban hasn't been worth $18.5K in a long, long time.
