    Gas Mileage?

Yup, these trucks have a horrible reputation for gas mileage. It's just the way it is.

Thanks Man. I'll check these out.

    Ground Locations

Anything to due with the engine compartment and ecm grounds. I'm chasing a gremlin with this idle issue. Thanks. I really appreciate all the help and info from everyone on this forum.

    Ground Locations

Hey, Does anyone have the locations of ground points for the engine compartment for 99 Tahoe like for the ecm, wiring harness etc?

Yay! I ordered more stuff for the Yuk today!

Nice! I actually installed the VMAX on my Tahoe. I put in a 383 and figured it needed to breathe better since the damn injectors are in the manifold. I did run into a big issue... The fuel lines will run right into the side of the distributor on the right side. It will prevent you from plugging...

    Fluctuating Idle

Just got done replacing the upper manifold and Crankshaft Position Sensor. Still the same. Any suggestions?

    Fluctuating Idle

The pressure control valve is located inside the pan. It had to be new when the replacement tranny was installed. It wasn't changed over from the last one. BTW just replaced the VSS. No change in idle. The battle continues.

    Fluctuating Idle

Thanks for the pressure theory and info.... but this was happening with the old tranny too. Which leads me to believe that maybe a sensor or solenoid from the old was transfered to the new? I'm thinking that I should unplug the tranny harness and see if the problem goes away then check pressures.

    Fluctuating Idle

Hey thanks for the input. I bumped up the idle via the screw on the TB and nothing. I did elongate the holes on the TPS to adjust it and it resulted in a SES light with no improvement. I also replaced the computer with a stock tune and also have one with a BB tune.... all the same. I didn't...

    Fluctuating Idle

No vacumme leaks. TPS only goes on one way and IAC resets when key is turned froward. I am not aware of any adjustments for the IAC. Is there one? The idle barely drops when going from P to D

    Fluctuating Idle

Hello everyone. Here is a problem for ya! The idle on my truck fluctuates in drive and reverse but not in neutral or park. In gear it's steady for a short time and then slowly goes up and down and then, goes up and down faster and faster until it starts to surge and then stall. No codes. SES...

    ht383e

I installed the HT383E in my 99 hoe. It went pretty good but just be aware that these engines have "Piston Slap". Because of the short skirts on the pistons there is slight movement back and forth at BDC against the cylinder walls. We are talking in the thousands of an inch but it still makes...

    Erratic Idle

Ok I have done some research and the story is that I may have a vacumme leak at the intake gaskets. I read that if you plug up the PCV and you have vacumme at the oil dip stick then there is a leak at the intake gaskets. I did this test and Have vacumme there. What do you guys think? A valid...

    4L60e LS Tranny to L31 5.7

Hmmm I have been trying to find a solution and havn't come accross that. Only "kits" that have flexplates and a spacer to put between the block and tranny. Could you give a website link that you know of? Thanks

    4L60e LS Tranny to L31 5.7

I just tried to install a PACT, transmissioncenter.net tranny. The 4l60e was identified as a LS1 b/c of the one piece bell housing. Turns out the flywheel and the torque converter don't match up. The snout on the converter is too wide and the converter itself is slightly ballooned out so the...

    Erratic Idle

Just checked for vacuum leaks. All ok. I unplugged each sensor one at a time and all was well UNTIL I unplugged the IAC. Then the idle smoothed out. This is a new part that I "threw" at the problem. The only other thing I can think of is that the bored out throttle body that I got from CFM-Tech...

    What intake are you running?

The open style intakes really don't "seal" when the hood closes. It just covers it. The reason the sealed box on the Volant is attractive is so you don't suck in the dirtier air from the engine compartment. Others may disagree but I have found that my filter stays cleaner for much longer with...

    rocker arms

I went through this myself. If you get 1.6 ratio rockers, the vortec heads need to be machined for push rod clearance because they will hit slightly. I went with replacing the stapmed steel with the stock 1.5 ratio rollers.

    What intake are you running?

Volant intake VOL-15957. Around $250 and has a closed box for the filter. Hits the hood insulation slightly but a nice unit.

    Erratic Idle

Yeah I do have the spacer. I think using carb cleaner will increase the idle if there is a vacuum leak. I put that spacer on very carefully when the motor was on the engine stand but you can never tell. I'll check that out.

    Erratic Idle

I am having idle issues when in drive but not in park. The idle surges and then drops and gets more frantic until it stalls. I have to power brake it at stops. I do have a ported Throttle body. Ive already changed the IAC motor. The tranny is shot and is being replaced soon. Are there any...

    4L60e Type?

They couldn't even build one for daily driving. This was before I had the 383. Never even towed or beat on their POS rebuilt. I wouldn't even consider buying a tranny on LI anymore. IMO they all suck!

    4L60e Type?

I ordered one from transmissioncenter.net. It is a level 3 Raptor version. Has all kinds of beefed up parts. They dyno it 2x before shipping it out. They use a synthetic fluid they developed. You don't have to use it ($38 per gallon) They said Ford Mercon V or Mopar ATF+4 synthetics are...
