I gotta say this is the worst vehicle I have ever owned. Today the gear shifter broke off in my hand. A quick look underneath looks like the connecting piece is made of shit cast pot metal. There are cars from the 50's that have parts on them that haven't broke off that have on this efin piece...
Heard (read) Monster quality is in the shitter due to high volume, but who knows. I have never had any luck with local rebuilds so I took a chance on the one I have and seems to be good so far.
Got a 4l60e from transmission center . net. Was not cheap. I would probably go with an 80 if i could do it over. However it is standing up very well to my 383 with decent mods. Blew the stock rebuilt during engine break in and seat-o-pants tests.
I had a bad spark plug wire with spark jumping to the manifold once that sounded just like a loose lifter. Check for a jumping spark against the exhaust at night.
99's do not have chips. Try this to reset the Passlock:
Turn the key to the run position. do not go to crank. leave the key on for 10 minutes and the system should reset.
How does a heater core go out? Unless it has a leak, it's basically a radiator. Maybe the bypass valve in the engine compartment attached to the heater hose is failing?
There is a motor down by the floor that controls the door. Mine used to go nuts and then just started working normal again. Didn't quite make the sounds in your video, but that's my best guess other than possibly the fan.
Your stomach is growling, there's a dog stuck in the vent, you stuffed the neighbor that never cuts his lawn in the air box or it could be the diverter moving back and forth.
It will work out really well for a turbo or s/c setup. As far as N/A engines, the results were marginal. Although if it were used strictly for towing and heavy off road use it would be beneficial. Toward the end I stared adding methanol and alcohol and it did improve performance. I was really...
Orange lines were from a water injection system I was designing. I have since removed it but will redesign when I get a blower put on. I put up a website to explain it all www.alkymethinjection.com. I don't answer emails from there cause people were trying to do stupid things and I didn't want...
I have the Volant with the vmax plenum spacer and it just about fits under the stock hood. You can see a shiny spot on the intake tube at the top of the curve where it rubs against the hood liner.
I think that the Volant is much better because of the enclosed filter box. Just my 2c :)
Put some driving lights in the air dam. I've always wanted to put a set there. I think it came out pretty good. I used some scrap aluminum to make a bracket and bolted it to the supports. Here are a few pics.
Your misfires are all at close to zero. Having a few is normal. Get the timing to 0. On another note, the position of your dist is a bit off in comparison to mine. The flat face of the front of the cap runs parallel to the edge of the intake on mine. It looks like the #1 wire is pressing against...
You have a 4L60e. I personally never had a good experience with local rebuilds. I ended up getting one from transmissioncenter.net and it wasn't cheap. Your signature says 383e. I have the same engine and had to get a beefed up tranny because the rebuilds blew. This one is holding up just fine.
