Yes. Get the motor to TDC on the #1 cylinder as explained. Drop the dist down making sure the rotor points at the #1 tower. Most caps have the cylinder numbers on them.
Something is really wrong if the wire isn't reaching. Get #1 at TDC by pulling the#1 plug and turn the motor over by hand. Put your finger in the hole. As you get close to 0 on the timing, air should rush out. Then drop the dist in when the 0 lines up.
Otherwise perhaps the timing marks are off...
I'm curious as to what you find as a solution. I've been having misfires for a year and have changed everything. Spark gap at .045 was worse than .060 for me.
I got a new one online for $50 with the cap, rotor and sensor, All aluminum. People will say they are cheap Chinese knock offs, but imo everything these days are made there and just re-branded. So far, I like it.
I had some front end work done and now the cv is spitting out grease so I'm going to replace the whole thing. Anyone recommend one brand of replacement over another? I found these from 1A Auto.
I also saw a youtube video on how to replace them... looks easy, but anyone feel otherwise? My...
I finally did the high beam mod. I used the relay method and not the diode. I did various research and got this as the standard method.
Wiring the relay 88-98 trucks
1.-Connect ground to body (relay circuit 85)
2.-Splice switch or trigger wire (12v) from high beams green wire (relay...
Yeah, I thinks it's the brass terminals. I don't know why our trucks eat these up? I had several from different manufacturers and they all corrode inside prematurely. I have yet to try the AC's though.
I just did my diffs with Amsoil 75w90 severe. I used both rtv and a gasket. Probably the most important thing to do is to torque the bolts down to give a nice even hold, equally all around. You may want to pick up a new rear cover from summit racing. It was $25 and came with new bolts and...
Could also be the "hummingbird" effect from these gauges. Mine vibrates also. Its is caused by the dampening oil evaporating out of the stepper motor and the pwm signal that the ecm sends. In the link below there is a detailed explanation and a solution if yours is a gauge issue...
Hmmm to be honest i'm not sure if there is enough room to swing it around like that on a regular jack. If there is, it wasn't obvious enough to me to try it that way.
