Hello fellas. Had a quick question. I got 2 ac Delco oil filters through Walmart. Of course they always seem to be out of these filters. Anyway. Did they change the 8 digit part number for retailers? Also did they change the design?

If I recall correctly, the pf48 preceded the pf48e. The pf48e is the e-core filter. It has a plastic core inside. The consensus I remember is that people prefer the pf48 for longer oil changes.

Then you have the PF 63. I've ran them on our 2014 Escalade. Same identical filter, just longer and more filter media inside. Some models don't have space for the longer filter, such as our 2003 Hummer H2.

You can look online and read up on the ecore filters and make up your own mind.... I know a lot of people are frustrated because it's hard to find a straight pf48 or PF 63 anymore.

Below is a response from ACDelco somebody posted online, related to their 2011 Silverado I think it was. Keep in mind some earlier GM products will have a crossmember directly under the oil filter preventing the use of the PF 63, like the Hummer H2 mentioned above. Also some Corvettes and Camaros have limited space.

Will this one work on my 08 6.2? I might just return them and get a wix...
I personally try to stick with AC Delco when it comes to an LS motor, including the filters. Take a look at the ACDelco
UPF63RF. I've been using those on the 2014 for quite a while now. There's also a version for the pf48. The AC Delco store on Amazon has pretty good prices if you grab it with six or 10 in bulk.

My second choice would be Wix
