What is "the controller"? Funny, I have chase lights on my Wrangler and use a SwitchPros system, and I have them strobe while in reverse! Can't be too safe.
Great looking install BTW!
Tell me how you want this to work and then let's discuss it. Gen5 Harness is only good for triggering from reverse. With a relay or a diode, you could also have a manual switch as well. But it would be likely be totally separate from the harness.
Thank you for sharing this. These are the posts we all need, when someome
Is successful accomplishing something that may or may not be able to be done. I appreciate the share, and: nice work getting it done.
Yes, that IS what we want (at least that's what I want). The harness on the website is NOT that I don't believe. This is where you just have to tell him exactly what you want via email and he will make it.
I just sent him an email moments ago asking for exactly what you said; I will let...
Let us know how it goes. I've ordered this same harness for a 2024 Sierra 1500, and just re-read the instructions for install, which include a relay and a wire going to the battery. It appears GEN5DIY is simply using the high beam trigger to trigger a relay which will turn on the fog lights...
Yes, that is the one.
Second update: I didn’t get another mileage warning until the tank was at 2 bars. Then it was like a red alert, ha. I filled the def tank at the next stop and it took 4.7 gallons. Another mileage warning would have been nice, although the gauge was reading correctly.
Totally off topic, but I have to post about my new Curt Rebellion XD cushioned draw bar. We are 800 miles into a vacation towing a 24 foot boat and we have not heard a SINGLE clunk from the draw bar. It was expensive, but I would recommend this thing to anyone. I’m giving it a perfect score...
Update: we had the TSB done at the dealer. We are on our second leg of a 600 mile (each way) vacation pulling a 5100 pound boat and trailer. We got one “X miles to empty on def” notice, but the gauge was accurate. With 2 of 8 bars gone, we took 1.7 gallons (which is accurate). We only got one...
Reply from Gen5DIY on where the harness would go:
It will connect inline at the passenger side headlight and then inline at the body to bumper harness which is located right above the passenger side fog light
Okay gentlemen, I found a provider for plug and play solutions. @Gen5DIY will make a harness for you. He did my reverse lights harnesses last year; he’s making some for my GFs new 1500 Sierra. Anyway, he said for $190 he’s going to make me a harness that will cause my fog lights to come on any...

Read this. Makes sense to me. Sorry, this is what I referencing above; this was on a different thread. Added above too.
Good to know on limp mode. I guess when towing (which for us is interstate driving typically across state lines), I’ll just know that when we get out first “range left” indicator on the DIC, that we need to top off the def tank at the very next fuel stop, and not wait. Thanks for the reply.
I am sorry if this has been covered; I searched for "echo" but found nothing. Sometimes when we use bluetooth via Carplay, we get a wicked echo for the person we are talking to (they hear our voices echoing). Its erratic. Anyone know why this happens, and is there a fix? Thanks!
We have this exact issue. Did you find a fix?
Our DEF usage skyrockets when towing. We get these results when towing, every time: warning at ~900 miles left (could be less or more, our first warning pops us), then an hour later (and 80 miles later), we are at ~200 miles left. Gauge goes from...
Reviving this thread. Our DEF usage skyrockets when towing. We get the same results as above: 900 miles left, then an hour later (and 80 miles later), we are at 200 miles left. It's completely erratic. Last week it showed almost empty, but then only took like 3 gallons (or so - I don't...
I found this pic in another thread. This is what my frame looks like behind that opening (the lower pic). I’ll know more when I open up the bottom and take a look, but this looks somewhat promising.
Rough Country said I had 30 days to return them. Let me slide under this thing this weekend and peek around and see what it looks like. I have to undo the lower cover stuff to see up in there; they do a nice job sealing up the undercarriage (wish it was all skidplates, ha!)
@d_hawk & @Trailzrider - The Rough Country fit guide says that this will not fit a 2023 Yukon Denali. Do I buy it anyway? I do have the port hole on the driver’s side next to the engine heater port hole (Duramax). Appears to be open to framework behind. Do you know if this will work? I will...
I got mine wired today. Used the Gen5 harnesses. The hardest part was getting the clip to open to slide the OEM harness apart. So damn simple, one harness per side. Could not have been easier. Rigid Industries Ignite flush mount. Very happy.
