    First timer

Yeah, what @swathdiver asked about tuning... If you have an injector open circuit code, that needs to be fixed. Strange that you don't have a misfire? You said that's fixed, so that's good. The fuel pressure is also below spec. Again, strange you are not getting P0171/74 lean codes both banks...

3 out of 4 Door Speakers Not Working (2001 5.3L)

Does your rig happen to be equipped with the Bose system? The amplifier can introduce another point of failure. IDK?

    A brake job rabbit hole

I replaced the EBCM for my 99 Silverado NBS last year with a remanufactured Dorman unit. I bought mine at the local parts store, but Rockauto showed they also had them in stock (and better price,of course). I would have thought a GMT900 EBCM is still available (?), but the 2500 Suburbans in...

3 out of 4 Door Speakers Not Working (2001 5.3L)

Did you get the adapters from Crutchfield also so you don't cut the original wires? I replaced the front door speaker on my 99 Silverado many years ago (2008?). I finally replaced the factory stereo with an aftermarket from Crutchfield and got the adapter harness a few weeks ago. One of my...

    Do torsion bars wear out?

Do they wear out? IDK. My truck has almost 300k and they still work just fine. But if they are bent, then that's a problem. Sounds like they took the truck rock climbing. The Z85 towing package was some wiring harness and other stuff, nothing suspension related that I can recall. Just stick...

So sounds like just the water pump then? Fingers crossed.

rpm too high downhill / 2008 Tahoe

Hold on there. Your engine WILL increase RPM if you are coasting or going down a grade if you downshift, with a corresponding deceleration of your truck. I would imagine some transmissions won't actually downshit to a certain gears if your speed is too high, so that you don't over rev and blow...

Gain control on Bose amp? - SOLVED

I wonder if there's a way to bypass the Bose amplifier and use the head unit amplifier handle the normal speakers, and just leave the Bose amplifier power the sub? That would probably make the most sense to me. Or is that what that adapter does? When I deleted my console (Bose amplifier and sub...

    Hard to start 2000 Tahoe

What engine is this? You still have 4 cylinders misfiring? I didn't understand that part? But you said no more misfire, so that's good. You need to do a static fuel pressure check, then see if pressure holds after you shut the engine off.

    Burning oil

It's "only" misfiring on cylinder 5?! No body has mentioned op is obviously running it with a misfire? Running it with a misfire will destroy the catalytic converters... that's problem #1. Fix the misfire ASAP. Problem #2 is oil pressure? Maybe, IDK on that one. If you don't have the AFM...

    Cold Engine Noise

Piston slap or manifolds as was mentioned. Check your manifold bolts as they are known to break. At your mileage, you may even consider getting the manifold bolts replaced as preventative maintenance. I don't think you would do anything about piston slap TBH. My 5.3 does it consistently, but...

Clunk Going Into Gear - UJoint?

Seems kinda normal to me TBH. Unless the video isn't picking up the real sound? You could simply remove the driveshafts and move the u joints to see if they are still or seized. But replacement is not a bad idea because they do wear out, especially if you live in the rustbelt regions.

2007 Tahoe LTZ 5.3 4x4 Whipple or Magnuson

300,000+ miles is perfect for force induction: your piston rings already have the perfect gap for boost. Well, that's what Internet says, anyways. :)

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Ah, ok. Gotcha. I think I saw that thread on PT.net. I bet with both TC input shafts in your hand, a machine shop could duplicate things. Or swap to a NP246 or something else? I did a 4L80e conversion on my 99 Silverado, but it's a 2wd, so pretty easy. Not even cutting the driveshaft. I did...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Have you ever considered swapping to a 4L80e? A STOCK 4L80e transmission is pretty dang tough in a 3/4 ton+ work truck or van towing and getting abused 6-7 days a week. In a light 1500 chassis, that transmission literally laughs at you when you push the metal-to-the-metal. Not joking either. I...

    Speedo (suddenly) reading high

Double check with a handheld scanner to see what the ECU is showing. I've got an old K3500 that's off by like 7 MPH @ 70. I have to drive "77" on the cluster to actually be driving 70 MPH. The ECU actually is spot on to GPS, so I know it's a cluster issue. It's a beat-up POS work truck and i...

    Epic Mexico Eclipse Road Trip

Ox Locker in GMT900 with 3.42 gears?

I daily drive an 06 Suburban LQ4/4L80e/4.10. We also own a 2020 Express 3500 passenger van with the L96/6L90/3.42. My wife drives the van daily to pick/drop off the kids at school. I think both vehicles are close in curb weight I sometimes get to drive the van and I actually prefer the...

Never ending debate - best oil weight

"Anything"W-30 would basically meet spec in your climate, and most southern States' climates as well. Unless you are like in the Dakotas or Alaska or somewhere like that, it really wouldn't matter what the first number on the "W" is. 20 wt. I guess is what they spec. for slightly increased...
