UPDATE: I have been dealing with one of the managers at the dealership who has been extremely helpful and compassionate and it seems like has really helped get us out of a pickle. It looks like we're going to sell them the truck as is and what they're giving us is far more than what I think it's...
You know with all of this information about delays for the 6.2's I wonder if that's why they cost so much so maybe if the dealer ends up putting a 5.3 in it it would be a lot less. There was a statement made that if I put a 6.6 in it which I believe is the same engine just bored out differently...
So that's all they use now are reconditioned engines. So believe it or not the quote for $16+k is actually a reconditioned motor. $9,000 for the motor $6,000 for labor and a thousand and change for taxes. I was actually told that they have five to six vehicles waiting for the 6.2 engine...
Lol, I may or may not have had the same thought about windows down. It won't start at all so I'm not able to take a pleasure ride to "that" side of town anyway.
Huh, this is interesting and does give me another angle to think about. I was always a little leery about buying anything off of ebay. But it sounds like it should be something I consider.
UPDATE: I called GM customer care, from advice I got from my dealership friend and they have created a "case" to look into what's gone on. I'm told they sometimes help people in certain outlandish situations. I'm hoping they see how out there this one is. Stay tuned..
So assuming I get a motor installed, is there any opinion on trusting that motor to tow a boat or take the truck on long trips? This is a family vehicle that we need to rely on and my wife isn't feeling warm and fuzzy?
I've got a friend that works at a dealership by my house. It's a Chevy dealer but it's not the same owner as the Chevy dealership in Wilmington NC. He's doing some research on parts prices and will do the work. I'm towing 140 miles to hopefully save some money
He revised the estimate down to 16,000 because the core fee wasn't taken into consideration. So it's still $16,400 for the motor, $6k labor, $9k parts, the rest taxes.
Still at it huh? Trying to prove I'm some sort of lying weirdo.
At the time of my original post up to 5 minutes ago, that is exactly the only information I had. A phone call that I need a new engine.
Now, I JUST got off the phone with the technician, because the advisor wasn't able to answer...
Nice, you're right. I was sitting around and decided to fabricate a story, join this forum looking for advice and respond to the people who ARE in fact responding in good faith with more lies....... why did you bother to post this reply to me? I'm looking for some guidance, maybe you can just...
Imagine being the advisor, and the technician says " needs and engine". Having to have to call me, you would think he would want to be prepared with all important information to deliver the message. He's literally just the messenger.
Unable to get the codes from them today as the time of day didn't allow for me to speak to the technician, I was talking to the advisor. I'm supposed to get more information tomorrow. The engine failure is really hard to accept. The truck completed a two hour drive at 75-80 mph, with NO issues...
We drove about 2 hours and at the end of our trip heard a winding or squeaking sound coming from the front of the car. At that point we were doing about 30-35 mph with in town. Got to my daughter's house had it idling tried to listen for the noise with the hood open and heard nothing. The car...
