Mysterious Oil Pan Findings
That's it. I gotta double check those lifters just to make sure the new ones are still good. Thanks everyone. I'm still putting the xfer case back on right now. Once I get it all back together I'll check those lifters before starting her up.- paulwaul1369

What is this plate on my oil pan???
Yup. It was what I read on some of the other replies. Just a plate... a scrape plate. Nothing on the other side but the oil pan.- paulwaul1369

Mysterious Oil Pan Findings
For my Z71 Tahoe LT V8 5.3 I was replacing the oil pump. And you know that means you have to drop the pan to do this amongst other things like the xfer case, a cross member and the axle shaft. In the oil pan, I found this broken piece of something... some pins, andwhat looks like a lock ring...- paulwaul1369

What is this plate on my oil pan???
So I took it off and there's nothing but the bottom of the pan. I was hoping for a quick access to the oil pump pickup line bolt but I guess it must be some kind of pointless scrape plate. However.. after dropping the oil pan I found some tings that should have not been there. Check out the pics...- paulwaul1369

What is this plate on my oil pan???
I'm about to find out. I'm changing the oil pump right now. I'm curious to see if it's a quick access to the oil pickup line that bolts to the oil pump. If its not a quick access i guess ill just continue to pull the pan since i already drained the oil. I'll send pics and updates on my findings.- paulwaul1369
