Transmission overheating, service 4wd message
2005 Yukon XL 2500 4x4 with 8.1 and auto 4wd, 200,000 miles. I've been getting the service 4wd message off and on for a few weeks. Automatic to Manual Trans swap... Anyone done it?
I'm wondering if anyone has tried this with any level of success. I know that the Dodge guys are doing it because of how crappy the Dodge automatics are, but I haven't heard of anyone doing it to a Tahoe or Yukon? What are your thoughts on it? Would it be fairly simple?- Ratchet2141

I'm glad that someone was able to clear that up for me, so thank you. This is my first GM fullsize SUV, so I don't know much about them. I've had 5 Jeeps. 2 CJs, 2 TJs, and an XJ. Unfortunately Jeep doesn't make a Wrangler that seats six, so I had to get something that did.- Ratchet2141

Thats why I'm a bit confused. The rear end is different. Standard Yukon brakes are waaay too small for the drums. I have to specify that I need Police Package parts when I replace my brakes. The speedo is the standard unit. However, every time I order parts for it, I have to specify that it is the police package. If I don't request police package parts, I get parts that don't fit my truck. As far as I know, everything on my rig is stock and hasn't been swapped for heavy duty parts...- Ratchet2141
