Another rough idle and new codes...

Well then.. new O2s in, a few other tests and and a steady decline rather than improvements in the idle. Handed it over to my new mechanic. Compression on Cylinder 5 @40% lower than 3 and 7 at idle, better readings at high RPMS. Things pointing to bad lifter. More info in a couple days.

Another rough idle and new codes...

Today's update: 1) Temps back up in the high 70's and the rough idle is much 'less rough'. 2) Looked at the four O2 sensors (didn't remove). The two UPSTREAM sensors have, at some point, been replaced and certainly look less weathered than the two downstream sensors that appear not to have...

Another rough idle and new codes...

Thanks for the feedback. Interesting ... Got this truck second hand and to my knowledge no oxygen sensors have been changed during my ownership. Indeed the 174 and 171 codes are LEAN both banks. I have not tried tightening bolts ... but I can. (Only sensor I can think of that was changed...

Another rough idle and new codes...

    I can switch the scanner to 'metric' readings on the next run... assuming that goes to grams/sec reading. .01 lbs/sec = 4.53592 g/sec .02 lbs/sec = 9.07185 g/sec

Another rough idle and new codes...

Couple notes and responses: No major work prior 18 months other what is mentioned. The vehicle had new radiator and AC condenser installed 18 months ago and it sat for a few months waiting for said parts. P0305 does not show up under PENDING while other three codes ARE PENDING. FRP(psi)...

Another rough idle and new codes...

Is Flex Fuel. Previously (last dealer visit) when the idle was commanding at 1800 rpms the ECM was reading 77% Ethanol in the fuel .. fuel in the tank was shown to only be 3% ethanol via testing fuel sample, dealer reset/relearn on that.

Another rough idle and new codes...

Thanks everyone... I'll have to record some data (no graphs) with my basic scanner - just did starting fluid around the top of motor (and 'usual suspect' areas) made no difference... will report back.

Another rough idle and new codes...

All this leads to P0171, P0174, P0300, P0305... Background: Have had intermittent P0305 (not AFM cylinder) for 18 months on 2014 LT with 115000 miles but there were no clear cause or noticeable symptoms other than minor bad idle at low rpms (while stopped). Coil good, spark plug good, took...

    Ticking noise. Lifters?

Any resolutions? I just got my 2014 Suburban back from body shop and got a 'Check Engine' light. Mechanic read error as misfire, at low RPMs on Cylinder 4. Ruled out plugs and coils. Did oil/filter change. But no time to diagnose further, I towed a trailer 200 miles (75MPH average) and a...

Wheel + Tire combo 17-18" better than 20" for smoother ride?

Thanks again everyone for the feedback. I ended up getting the '14 Suburban. Mainly I couldn't find anything comparable for the money. Having driven it with the 20" wheels for a few days here are some observations. It came with 17" wheels (thank you door decal). This is LT model with LTZ...

TIGHTEN FUEL CAP Message - Check Engine Light on

Digging up this old thread to inquire ... did the Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor do the trick? I've done the fuel cap, evap canister and evap solenoid (blew out all the charcoal too), still getting check engine. Thanks.

Wheel + Tire combo 17-18" better than 20" for smoother ride?

Thanks for the feedback. Makes me a little more confident that I buy this 2014 LT I can replace the wheels with 18" rims and better tires for an improved ride - not sure it will match the 2005 ride of course. (I have a line on new factory 18"x8" wrapped in Michelins at a local tire shop. The...

Wheel + Tire combo 17-18" better than 20" for smoother ride?

Let me explain... I'm looking at a 2014 Suburban LT (w/90k miles - 2WD) that comes equipped with 20"x8.5" LTZ wheels with fairly new 275/55/20 Goodyear LS-2 tires, however the test drive on that combo felt way to 'stiff' - every little bump and imperfection in the road (and there are a lot of...

2nd row seat swap still a thing?

I've come to the conclusion my 'captains' chairs in the 2nd row of my Yukon XL are less useful as the family grows. Anyone have suggestions on where to pickup a 'bench' for the 2nd row, in reasonably good condition, for an 2005 Yukon XL? (other useful bits: tan interior and I am near...

Ambient Light Sensor wiring help needed 2005 Yukon XL

Never mind all the BCM garbage above, I kind of solved this. Let me explain.... Since I already had the dash off to get a better look at the SENSOR, I went ahead and tapped the black (ground) and white (signal to BCM) wires that lead to it . I could of just spliced in the resistor in but I...

Ambient Light Sensor wiring help needed 2005 Yukon XL

Yes it is a combo Sunload Sensor + Ambient Light Sensor Signal which is why there are more than just two wires I/O. Power switch toggle would be too easy? I took a gamble that the black wire (ground) and white was the signal back BCM for the light sensor, turns out a good guess on my part.

Ambient Light Sensor wiring help needed 2005 Yukon XL

[SOLVED SEE BELOW] I am attempting to disable the ambient light sensor in my 2005 Yukon XL SLT to prevent the highlights automatically activating the circuit when dark outside (to protect aftermarket HID ballasts during ignition). You know, using a 1.5k resistor... Can anyone help identify...

Fueling Issues - What I’ve Done

Replaced the charcoal canister and vacuumed the lines. Problem solved. Incidentally, when I detached the hoses I was showered by charcoal pellets.

Fueling Issues - What I’ve Done

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm having this issue with my 200k mile yukon xl. The issue started out of the blue, went from going 10-15 gallons without the nozzle lever popping, to barely getting 1 gallon in at a time. On a recent road trip I stopped at a gas station with really low...

Intermittant noise in stock stereo system

Sure do. Saw your post reached around and hit power/source button on the rear console and it went away. I see the amp / connections there may be the culprit ... thanks Shaw520 for the thread link as well!!

Intermittant noise in stock stereo system

Misery loves company, they say. My 05 just starting doing this in the last couple weeks. Started out intermittent, now it's anytime the radio is on (or warning bell goes off with radio off). Here's what I recorded on my phone... Now to find the solution!

    LED Puddle light draw

Long term update: They are still are 'dim' when not on... but seemingly have been working fine and no adverse affect on battery life. These are very bright when they are on at night.
