Wheel + Tire combo 17-18" better than 20" for smoother ride?

17 inch Steelies and some decent sidewall should be a million times better than any 20 inch wheel as far as ride is concerned.

Let me explain... I'm looking at a 2014 Suburban LT (w/90k miles - 2WD)

I bet its a combo of bad/cheap tires and maybe worn suspension. Sure smaller rims would be softer but even with the 20's you wouldnt think ride quality would be a complaint on such a new vehicle. 90k miles surely all original suspension on a newer gm vehicle, probably worn to shit.

Thanks again everyone for the feedback. I ended up getting the '14 Suburban. Mainly I couldn't find anything comparable for the money.

Having driven it with the 20" wheels for a few days here are some observations. It came with 17" wheels (thank you door decal). This is LT model with LTZ wheels.... meaning I don't have the LTZ suspension. And the tires are 10" wide, so that definitely is noticeable. Oh, and when the steering wheel is locked full left or right, tires rubs a little in the wheel well.. like tight parking lot maneuvering.


So my plan now is to find some new 'take offs' that are 18" and sell the current 20". I'd be interested in some hybrid wheels if anyone has some they'd like to part with.
