Might be time....Motor and trans swap/replacement

Might be time for me to consider motor and trans swap/replacement; 323k miles- runs fine, but I'm starting to get nervous on longer trips...My last trip to Death Valley she got a little warm (once) and has been sipping some antifreeze lately. Honestly I have been searching for the next ride as...

Haha Yikes! yeah like I said earlier these Tahoes are one electronic controller from being perfect;) Update: Ended up taking to my local shop...Tranny code and PS issue seem to be ghosts. But getting the 'o-ring' in the oil pan replaced today...so should be wheels up tomorrow for a good while.

2009 tahoe 5.3 low oil pressure, power steering loss and tranny code

First- Owned since day one, well cared for 295k. Tranny replaced about 100k ago. Just recently noticed oil pressure sitting lower than usual...hovering around the 20psi (according the gauge). Historically this happens when low on oil, and a quick check and quart (or what is needed) is all that...

Where Is My Solid State Relay (SSR)???

Update....even thou I changed the relay and multiple fuses....I am still getting the warning WTF! It happens randomly, but also seems to happen when braking hard downhill...So I still think it could be a ground wire someplace. What would be nice if the great engineers at GMC would have...

Where Is My Solid State Relay (SSR)???

Yep I figured that out too! Here's another pic for location...But basically follow the fuel cell toward the front of the truck until the first subframe and its attached to it.

Where Is My Solid State Relay (SSR)???

Ok...I MAY have found this little ******! ....the only thing is not 100% its the right relay, as the part# 25848909 doesn't line up to what I've read.........If so...its located inside of the frame rail right after the fuel cell, on on the subframe beam....trouble is the bolt heads are tucked...

Where Is My Solid State Relay (SSR)???

Just crazy....if I could only find the damn relay I could fix it....but all of the 'suggested' locations I'm coming up empty. So frustrating.

Where Is My Solid State Relay (SSR)???

Curious....If you ever found the position of the relay? I'm having the same issue of not finding the location..... All the YT vids are for silverados or trucks which either locate on frame rail or under spare...nada on the Tahoe...

2009 Tahoe: Front Wipers not spraying fluid

Thought I might have solved it this AM...since there are two pumps (ft and rr) with the rear one working, thought I could just switch the cabling and have a working washer for the front.....but NOPE different fittings! Dam! Keep those suggestions rolling in;)

2009 Tahoe: Front Wipers not spraying fluid

Ok....its not the motor...its not the fuses...what is it? I'm at a loss... As a side note I'd just like to thank the GM engineers for their ability to over-engineer the placement of the motors and fittings so that it is nearly required to remove the front end to get at anything:)

2009 Tahoe: Front Wipers not spraying fluid

thanks for the response....you make it sound ominous to get to the electrical connection with 'IF'...lol I hope thats not the case...but my previous experience has taught me the pretty much everything on the rig is a challenge to work on or get at;) But I think your right, in that the pump is out...

2009 Tahoe: Front Wipers not spraying fluid

Hey all! I just completed a trip out to Montana and back, which went flawlessly! However just today went to clean the front windshield via wipers fluid...and the wiper turn on, but no fluid! - I checked all related fuses -rear wiper and fluid working fine -don't hear any noise like the fluid...

Crate motor... worth it? anybody tried it?

IDK but mileage would scare me much having put as many miles on these tahoes as I have.....I would be more concerned about how/who put the miles on...if records are avail, etc.. I think I'd just buy what you like and drive the wheels off it....and then go get a nice crate LS motor and throw a...

    Best Tires

True..but pretty unusual to have premature worn tires too.....I agree with you balance, as well as possible alignment issues, as for the actual tires themselves, I have a lot miles on duelers and michelins alike, never had such issues with either and outside of the michelins wearing longer- have...

    Best Tires

I've run a lot of rubber....from Defenders, LTX(michelins) and currently Bridgestone dueler anafenza (sp? lol).....they all are about the same with the michelins logging in more on the mileage. That said, it sounds more like alignment issue based on your description of tire wear...Toe and...

    Replace lower ball joint

Well you right about that...however much of this discussion is simply about separating the ball joint from the spindle....trust me I lost that fight this weekend.

    Torque management

FWIW- I did a diablosport tune and turned off Torque Management, the result was more positive shift from gear to gear (less 'slippage, or quicker engagement).

    Replace lower ball joint

I like that idea...note you'd have to have the shock installed to make that work I think. I fought like crazy to get mine done this weekend...in the end the LBJ won, so I figured its got some more miles left in it if its not ready to come out yet:)

2009 TahoeAdventures in mechanics and other Metelhead things to do....

...figured I start a thread, since I seem to be working a bit on my 2009 Tahoe lately..... So this weekend...has been being planned for sometime....actually just waiting for the rain to stop(since my garage is a bit to tight to have me and the Hoe in it at the same time...so outside work is...
