OMG, forget this pump. I pulled it out this evening. I'm getting so fast at dropping the tank I might as well join a nascar pit team. Three hours to diagnose, drop, install new pump and put tank back with janky stands and no room. I digress...
Was driving and it did the EXACT same thing again...
I missed something... I'D NOT put the supply line to the stud on the junction box. It's 80 amps fused for fans, yet the stud is fused for 30 amps. I went to go for a drive today and it blew the fuse several times. I put a breaker in there to diagnose and dawned on me, you need to supply voltage...
@rockola1971 I should ask a question of you about my truck. I rebuilt the front / IFS diff (minus the carrier). I also rebuilt my instrument cluster. I notice there's a green 4wd indicator on the instrument cluster. That never illuminates on my cluster though. Does it on anybody else's?
You did a beautiful job on the harness. I keep going back looking at the junction box and harness wishing you lived closer. I'd hire you to do more work on my truck :p
Good to know about fans... It seems the relays are the weaker point. GM must have done a good job beefing up the fans so they...
Complete with upgrade. I have a few notes... but first.
WOW you did an AMAZING job refurbishing the junction block! It was LIKE NEW. I was going to have to resort to eBay to do this project but you saved me all the grief of fiddling around, cleaning up, and rebuilding the harness. Thanks!!!
I...
I think it locks the hubs in. Don't believe it has anything to do with Hi/Lo.
Yeah that shaft comes right off. I took mine apart. I'd give it a try. It may made right up to yours.
From sound of it you need the correct gears? You had 3.42 and swapped to 3.73?
If that's the case, just take the...
I should have updated the post... Thanks for tip...
Looking like it was a bad junction / fuse block. I replaced it moved pump supply relay to outside of junction block. Haven't had problem since. Also it got rid of heating in junction block as I think the current draw from aftermarket pump...
Its a bit of work to convert from or to a AWD from a standard locking transfer case. I am sure it can be done but I've not done it.
doesnt sound like that is what you are doing anyways... Yeah I'd just take gears and whatever you need from the purchased front Axle into your factory axle. I'd...
After some study the low speed and high speed fans is fairly simple in concept. Low speed connects fans in series (voltage divides proportionally to motor load / size).
High speed switches the ground connection order (middle relay), establishes a connection to positive voltage (fan right)...
I've fiddled with my 4WD... Rebuild the tx case, front diff, etc. However, I've not swapped parts from other vehicles. Not 100% sure on fitment.
That said, probably the only thing would be that actuator on the axle tube. It may need swapped if the connector doesn't fit...
The AWD TX case is...
I got everything wired up... @ScottyBoy Did you intend the AC clutch signal wire be fed through the supply / power side of the relay to the compressor clutch? I hooked it to the control / trigger wire for clutch relay and it doesn't work... Otherwise I can short the relay and the fans go on.
I...
Yeah I can hear it from inside (although it's not terribly loud). I honestly thought it was a slipping serpentine belt. Turns out it's most definitely a noise with the pressure regulator. I tried two regulators, both exhibit the same behavior.
Diving deeper it maybe linked to my engine's PID...
Took a while but finally found pinout for head unit. I'm going to start powering this up with my lab bench...

After a bit more research it appears the head may use E&C Data which is a standardized...
I have a pretty good idea of what might be happing now after I've had time to sit down and stop freaking out.
The PCM is powered by the same fuse as the fuel pump. I've jumpered a fuel pump relay to outside the factory junction block.
It dawned on me, the same fried / damaged circuitry that...
The 140 LPH pump is at the cusp of what my build is at. Plus I got about $300 into the aftermarket pump and don't want to drop the tank again if I don't have to.
Last time truck stalled I'm unsure if it was due to pump or something else. I think the ignition shut off. When I went to cycle the...
I found this page here... https://lt1swap.com/wiringharness.htm
Still in need of some sort of rugged, weather hardened setup for the fuel pump fuse.
I may also need to rewire the entire engine compartment. Harness is 24 years old and showing it's age.
I desperately need some sort of aftermarket fuse junction block. It should be weather sealed.
I've been tracking gremlins in my fuel system. The pump has intermittent performance. I tracked it down to overheating relays and fuse block under the hood. My fuel pump is aftermarket which runs at 11...
@ScottyBoy makes perfect sense about the AC Compressor clutch. If I have to tear apart the AC system again I'll add that pressure sensor maybe lol
My friend has a 2005 Silverado. I asked him if I could look under his hood and he didn't even give me an answer. He kind of looked at me weird
I got the rebuilt fan junction block from @ScottyBoy I 150% recommend working with him. Saved me grief of eBay (bad parts), scouring junkyard (they didn't have it), and rebuilding the block. He cleaned it up and it looks AWESOME, I mean like new!
Yesterday I got to installing it. Here's a few...
It broke down again :(
It seems as though the power line to the fuel pump is cooking the inside connection on the fuse block. I think I have to break the threaded part of the junction block to separate it and verify?
However, when pulling the relay the block smells burn. I let it cool down and...
Thanks! It's fun... Has been on my wish list to build along with a handful of other circuits for tuning. This is a good way to get my feet wet though.
My other ideas include a Knock Sensor breakout circuit (could listen to knock on headset, record it, or better calibrate it)
And a narrow to...
I bought a head unit from the junkyard to tinker with / right up and test out. So I have on my development bench a:
P59 PCM (Gen III SBC controller)
Delco Electronics Radio Head Unit
and the tape deck
I'm working on the circuit right now to sniff the J1850 VPW (single wire network) and decode...
