'07 6.0L safe max coolant tempurature while towing

My little 5.3 engine towed a U-haul auto transport trailer loaded with my 1987 Cutlass for over 300 miles. Granted, we dont have any mountains here in Louisiana, its all pretty much flat. The highest I ever saw the coolant temp was about 215 or so, and thats only because I was going up the big...

'07 6.0L safe max coolant tempurature while towing

Maybe its just me, but I would be highly concerned if l had temps of 215 or higher.

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Excuse my ignorance, but whats the difference between the "old" and "new style " wiper arms? And what year did they change them? I'm guessing I have the "old style" because mine do stay in the up position when replacing the blades or cleaning the windshield. PS, I have a 2001.

    5.3 Tick/Knock?

I dont remember for sure, as it' been 2 or 3 years since I did it. But I dont really remember it giving me much trouble. I think I might have had to use a flex head ratchet, but not a universal joint or anything. I'm thinking the handle was hitting something, that why I needed the flex head...

    Driver side power window switch/module

Yes its technically a seperate switch for tge adjustable pedals. But that switch plugs into the power window switch. So does the power mirrors, puddle lamps, AND the courtesy lights in the bottom corner of the door. Basically the whole door feeds off of the window switch. Thats why GM doesn't...

    Driver side power window switch/module

I am just seeing this thread. I have a few power window switch in my stash of parts back from when I used to do LED conversions. I believe i still have two master switches left, and one is for the adjustable pedals and power folding mirrors as it came out of a 05 Denali. I'd be happy to sell it...

OEM GMT800/NBS Electric Fan Harnesses For Sale

I currently have a few Cooling Fan harnesses available for sale. For anyone who doesn't already know, I pull these fan harnesses from junk vehicles and "refurbish" them as a standalone harness. By the time I'm done with it, it pretty much looks like a brand new fan harness. I completely clean...

    5.3 Tick/Knock?

That port right behind the power steering pump is where l hooked into to test mine. If i remember correctly, I'm thinking it's a 8mm hex/allen bit. Whatever it is, I do remember its Metric, NOT Fractional sized bits. And I have the Harbor Freight oil pressure gauge testing kit. It does NOT...

No forward gears, but revers works after loud clunk at nearly WOT.

Sounds like the transmission is toast. When mine failed, it went out in a similar fashion. I could only drive in Reverse, or in 1st gear. And i couldn't go any more than 15-20mph. Thankfully I was able to limp it home like that, as l was less than a mile from home. When I had it rebuilt, they...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

On my 2001, I have the rear audio controls. They haven't worked ever since l swapped out the stock head unit years ago. If i remember correctly, the rear audio controls only controlled the headphone jack on the audio panel. When activated, the rear speakers are muted/disabled, and the...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

My Suburban is the same way. My rear brakes definitely wore out faster than the front. But the front pads were still about 50%worn, so i went ahead and changed them. Fast forward about 7 years later, the rears were toast again, and the fronts are still less than 50% worn. Except this time, im...

    A/c weird issue

Also, I thought I should add this tidbit of info.... With rear air, even if nobody is sitting in the rear, run the rear air on high if you want maximum output from the front vents. I thought I was imagining it at first, and I still am not completely sure why, but if the rear AC is off, the air...

    A/c weird issue

Maybe. Depends on several other factors though, like ambient temperatures, length of drives/trips, if it's driven on the highway or on slow stop and go traffic. When my fan clutch failed (or started to fail) I noticed increased temps but only when sitting still. If my truck was moving more...

    A/c weird issue

Sounds like a faulty fan clutch. Perfect time to convert to Electric Cooling Fans in my opinion.

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Man, that's CHEAP these days, especially for a complete repaint, AND taking the hood and roof down to bare metal. I wish I could find a deal like that around here, but I doubt i could find someone like that in this somewhat small town of under 100k people. In a much larger metro area like...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I've seen them everywhere. Especially on Amazon and Ebay. You can get them with heated mirrors, turn signals, and even puddle lights and markers lights all built in. You might have to run wires for the marker lights or puddle lights though. Every 2003-2006 is "pre-wired" for the turn signals...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

If you don't mind me asking, what city are you in, and about how much is your painter charging you. Because here in Northwest Louisiana, most shops don't even wanna touch a full paint job, and the ones that ARE willing to to it, want between 7k and 11k to prep and paint it. I can only afford...

    Dim DIC

You can also look up "Jeffescortlx" on YouTube. He has a LOT of videos on GM cluster repair, and a few specifically on the issue of a dim or dead odometer and DIC.

    Dim DIC

Here's a picture of the cluster board, with the resistors circled that I mentioned. Usually just reflowing and adding a small amount of mire solder to these joints will fix the problem. But there's also been instances where the resistors have completely fallen off of the board because of the...

    Dim DIC

Take this for what it's worth, but I've "heard" that adding a trans temp gauge on a 2003-2004 is really simple. You literally just solder in the stepper motor and swap rhe gauge face to one with the trans temp gauge. You supposedly don't need to upgrade any software or reflash anything in the...

    Dim DIC

This is actually a fairly common issue on the GMT800 trucks. It's an internal failure in the instrument cluster. You can "usually " fix it by simply reflowing the solder, and adding a tiny bit more solder to each joint. It's the row of flat surface mount resistors in the cluster that are the...

I was actually considering getting those, as I have that SAME Air Dam on my truck. Good to know they fit perfectly in those squared off openings.

Just wire them up to a switch if you want JUST the DRL's on. If you just want to temporarily turn them on just to see how they look, you can pull the DRL relay, and put in a jumper wire from terminal 30 to terminal 87 in order to force them on.
