i recently took apart the back of my cluster and theres 6 or 7 bulbs that i light it up. im looking to replace them with white leds. i believe they are 194 bulbs just like everything else. i twisted the socket out with no problem, but im having trouble getting the actual bulb out of the socket, im afraid im going to break it, any ideas? also, would white leds really change the backlight color of the cluster or just make it brighter? thanks for the help

those look like the socket bases that i have in my stock cluster now...whats the difference? are the stock bulbs removable out of the base or not? im not sure why i had a hard time trying to get them out. but if i just need new bases then get some white 194 leds....thats okay because those new bases are cheap.

The stock incandescents are built into the bases and not meant to be removed from the base. So, yes, you will need these bases for your 194 led's.

I have to ask something here from those with more knowledge than mine apparently...lol

I actually have the cluster out of my Dmax for this mod now, but it doesn't have the twist lock bases. I plan on doing this mod on the Yukon as well an was ready to order enough of the LED's and resistors I need to do the Dmax cluster, but if I need the twist locks that will change things up a bit.

Is there a way to tell which set up is in the Yukon without taking it apart?

Here is a link to the DIY I am following for the Dmax

I know for the tahoes and yukons, they upgraded the electronics in 2003. So, 2000-2002 tahoes yukons will have the easy twistlock bulbs and 2003-2006 will need soldering.
