I am looking at buying a 2001 Yukon XL 2500 SLT w/autoride and the current owner says the 4x4 is not currently working because when his rear shocks were bad, he did not have the money to replace with the correct autoride shocks at the time so with the rear shocks being disconnected from the autoride system, the 4wd is not working, he states that replacing the shocks with the correct autoride shocks and then the 4wd will be fine, he says his mechanic told him this, anyone ever heard such a thing?? It does not make any sense to me...

I've never heard of such a thing but I've been wrong before! Hopefully someone else chimes in because I think the guy is feeding you a huge line of crap!

The autoride shocks can be swapped out for normal shocks with minimal work & guys do this pretty frequently without 4x4 issues. I think this guy is trying to pull one over on you. The 4x4 system is controlled by different modules & to the best of my knowledge with what I've read he is severely misinformed.

I got rid of the autoride crap and went with regular shocks and 4x4 works fine. The guy is either a liar, On drugs or really stupid.

I have not seen the truck in person yet. Hopefully in the next day or so and then I can see what it does in person. Only going by what he told me and it didn't make any sense to me whatsoever.
