My '02 5.3 has 113,000 miles and just recently I am getting a ticking/knocking when i start it up for the day and last a few minutes until the engine is kinda warmed up, and the belts are constantly squealing while idling, not accelerating. Any tips to get it running a little smoother? Thanks.

Change the oil. Replace the belts, idler pulleys, and tensioner assemblies. If it hasn't had a tune up then plugs and wires too

Thanks! I just had my oil changed. I had the belt replaced over a year ago, is it time for a new one already? I just want to keep the beast running smooth!

Any belts/tensioner assembly/plugs you would recommend?

thanks

I like Gates for belt/hoses/idlers/tensioners. Look on Rockauto.com

I prefer OEM ACDelco plugs and wires unless it is a race car

These are just my preferences personally so take from them what you will
