I have been searching and having trouble finding threads to help me.
If I try to use the search term 'first' the forum drops that word so I end up with every thread that used the term 'tranmission'

I am working in Kentucky and my wife's car was totaled last week so she is stuck driving my longy 120 miles each day.

She told me tonight that when she leaves a light at normal speeds that truck stays in first gear until high RPM's (unsure how high my phone was dieing)
If she slows back down and tries again it goes lick normal.
She said it doesn't do this every time maybe 50%

One handy thread I did stumble on was this one about common trans failures
http://tahoeyukonforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4511&highlight=transmission+stuck
None of these really seemed to quite match what I am experiencing.

It has been slipping some on part throttle 2-3 shifts but never anything in first. And I can always drive in such a way that 2-3 doesn't slip

I gues my question is this:
Is my wife about to be stranded by this transmission (loaded question I know but this is what I am asking myself)

And this:
Has anyone experienced this problem before? Know of a thread about it?

I would like to apologize for the vague thread (I don't want to be one of the posters that wants their problem fixed without giving out the info)

But its all I got - Out of town and about to be down two vehicles...

Check your fluid and see if it is bright red and smells like plastic, or dark brown or even black with a smell that I can't even describe, but you'll know if it needs a fluid change.
