Regarding the BW 4481 transfer case. Mine is shot and is going to have to be rebuilt/replaced.

I have searched all over the internet and not found a great deal of information on this particular unit.

Does anyone know of a detailed removal procedure? Is taking this particular case out any different from a 4WD case or can I follow those procedures with the only differences being electrical connectors, etc.

Thanks -

It’s pretty easy. Pull the driveshafts (mark the positions of the u-joints so they go back the exact same way) , pull the wiring plugs, unbolt it and lower it down. A trans jack doesn’t work well so I just bench pressed mine down and then back up when reinstalling. They aren’t too heavy, maybe 80 lbs.

Scott,
Try Just_Chevy_Trucks website. They have used (reclaimed) parts. The 4481 is about $375 free shipping. They're on eBay. I bought a front diff from them and put new seals in it. Works fine.
