So my new to me yukon wouldn't start this AM, bout -24C here last night.

Let me start here: realized last night there was no heat from the rear. Took apart the passenger side rear to find the actuator for the heat no longer worky. Being 11PM no chance of buying one so I drove a screw through the gear to hold it in the heat position. This way the kiddies won't freeze today as we have a couple hour drive to see the in-laws(ahhh x-mas).

While I was testing both actuators with blower running I ran the battery down enough it wouldn't start. So for the rest of the time I was working on it I put the charger on it at 10amps. Finished up, started the kon and drove for bout 15-20 minutes then shut'er down for the night.

This AM wifey has hair appointment and the kon wouldn't start. My truck is a diesel and I hadn't planned on using it so I didn't plug it in, it wouldn't start either. Needless to say, wifey was pissed with me.

So I get my father over for a boost on the kon. Hook'er up and nothing, just a click. Knowing both bats in my truck are good I swap one into kon, nothing just click. Now I'm pissed, lol. So I try to start, it goes click and I didn't let go of the key, I held it as if I was starting it for bout 5 seconds. Let go and tried again and it fired right up.

I'm new to the kon and gas engines, I'm a diesel guy, so my question is this...wtf?

Can you hear the pump priming when you put the key in accessory position?

Everything is working fine now, just got in from bout 5 hours of driving. I was just curious as to why the thing would start after holding the key in the on position for 5 seconds?
Do these have passlock like the Grand Ams? My sister has one of those and the key/cylinder is worn which gives her lots of problems.
