04 Tahoe that came from the factory with dual zone heater A/C controls with the dual slide bars and round knobs to adjust fan and blowing location. I recently found a heater A/C control from an '03 Tahoe with the digital screen and knobs that turn for the dual zone temp control.

Can the control be swapped in my 04 for the one with the screen, or does it also require changing the wiring harness? Or, is it not even possible due to other factors? Part # on the digital screen control is 15107730

Sounds like what I asked lol except for the 99-02 models :)

Can you elaborate as to the reason?

I had read that if I replace the control harness as well, it is possible.

you need to replace the ENTIRE inside harness, new bcm, things like the aspirator fan, etc. It's not the the controller, you need the stuff that senses the temperature inside and adjust the heat/ac according as well as the stuff that auto changes from floor to vent to defrost.

I wish it were easier, and cheaper, but sounds like it isnt.

I will likely need to replace mine. The lights are almost all out and only 5 works, 1-4 not so much. Unless that is an entirely different issue, in which case, could someone please refer me to somewhere on this site as to how to fix that?

In addition, my front heat doesnt work. Had the a/c on last night and the windows fogged up. Went to use the defrost, and there was no heat! Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Jon

More than likely the blower motor resistor on the fan speed issue. As long as someone didn't disconnect the front heater core then that issue is more than likely a blend door issue. I'm not sure if the defrost is plumbed to the drivers side or of each side is separate. As far as swapping over to the auto system it's not worth the time or money to do. Like was mentioned before there is way to much that has to be changed in order to make it work on top of it's not all that it's cracked up to be anyway. Unless the outside temperature is relatively mild you have to have it cranked to full hot, or full cold to make it output hot, or cold enough air to keep you comfortable. It's also annoying to use in manual mode s well. You have to cycle through all the different settings to get the air to flow where you want it from, and turns the AC compressor on when you don't want it on, The only nice thing about it is in the colder months it'll ramp the fan speed up proportionally to the coolant temperature as it warms up.
