I have a 2004 chevy tahoe that won't start, yesterday i was driving home and it came up reduced engine power, It has done this before and shutting it off and re starting it has always fixed it. However it did not fix it yesterday. I limped it home and did some Googleing and thought it might be the tps so I unplugged and re-plugged it. Then immediately started it and it didn't say reduced engine power. So I turned it off.

Today how ever I went to leave for town and tried to start it and it would just crank but not start. If I unhook the tps it will start and run really crappy like it's not getting enough fuel for about 3 seconds then die.

Can a bad tps cause symptoms like this or could it be something else?

After further investigation I am not getting any fuel even before the fuel filter so I am going to replace my fuel pump and see where it goes from there. Its got 235k on it so a fuel pump going bad isn't unrealistic.

More to the point when I started working on it I could hear the pump wine and it progressively got quite the more and more I tried to test different things. To the point where with the backside of the fuel filter unhooked and the key on I couldn't hear the pump and no fuel shot out.

Would a bad tps cause the fuel pump to go out or not pump fuel at all?

*UPDATE* I replaced the fuel pump with a new one and everything seems to be going good. I had a misfire on a cylinder cause I apparently unplugged the injector while I was working. I fixed that and now everything is good no cel or reduced engine power
