04 yukon xl tranny died

so on saturday morning we were getting on the highway to go to new orleans for the day a soon as i got on the highway and started accelerating i sounded like my serpintine belt broke so I pulled over and shut it off and checked it was good climbed all over the truck all was good so took it back home and it wouldn't down shift had to shift manuelly monday got home from work got in the yukon and took it to the tranny shopthey hooked it up to the computer and said it has no codes and soundsfine so i paid 50 bucks and left got 2 miles away and lost all gears forwardand reverse i have the 4l60e tranny

Sounds like the planetary or sunshell went, time for a rebuild.

that what my brother said now i gotta pull it out and take it 500 miles to his house so he can rebuild it for me 350 for parts and 300 for gas is still cheaper than a rebuilt one and better than a used one and i get some bbq out of it gotta love tx but has to wait till sept so momma has to drive he spare car 93 toyotatercel wih no a/c i offered my ram but se cant drive manuel :)

I'm assuming your brother is going to upgrade the internals, too. I'd did that when I did my trans and parts cost upwards of $500, with the front and rear planetaries, and the beast sunshell, plus rebuild kit. Get the 5 pinion planetary for the input side, and check out the shift re programming kit, of fix kit. Also check out the corvette servo. All this stuff will get you a decent shifting tranny, that should last for the rest of the vehicle life. Unless you start boosting power. Lol.
