I just picked up this denali and under slow deceleration under 15mph I can hear a popping sound from under the truck somewhere. It happens only when im coasting to a stop like in a parking lot or stoplights. Its not a cv axle and I have checked all the ujoints. I am going to do a rear diff service today and change out the 75w90 gear oil and transfer case fluid change just in case. Has anyone else had a similar problem with their yukon denali? Im stumped.

I have an 03 Tahoe with a swapped LQ9. I was having a similar issue with popping coming from my exhaust at certain speeds. I only have upstream O2s, the downstreams have been tuned out. I replaced 1 upstream O2 that I told was being lazy--but it hadn't set a code yet--reset my fuel trims. It would need to relearn these--and all is good now. No more popping. What's the mileage, and have the O2s ever been changed?

i think i found the culprit last night. The rear u-joint is going bad and the driveshaft slaps around at low speeds. Im going to change it this week and report back.

Great! Post your results/confirmation after your u-joint replacement, so that our collective knowledge base gets increased.

If it sounds like this, the u-joint won't fix it, but replacing it is just good safety.

I launched the parts cannon at mine and all it really needed was greasing the slip yoke.
