It is an oil pressure sender that sends signal to dash. If the engine is now quiet and still getting a low reading, the oil sender is suspect. Is buried at back of engine. If have that done, do it with a Genuine GM part and while you have the sender/switch off, do a mechanical gauge reading from cold to hot engine.
When you said the oil pump was replaced you said pressure was low but did not say anything about noise. Post 23 is first you mentioned engine noise since oil pump replaced and that is why I mentioned the sender/switch.
Sorry bout that. As soon as I got everything put back together it was loud and very low oil pressure. Took off the heads again and checked the torque looked everything over and put it back together. Still super loud and low oil psi. Proceeded to remove oil pan to see if the pickup tube was loose but ended up taking to mechanic.
