06 Yukon denali (xl) headlights

The projector/outer beams had never turned on it was always the center beams since we bought the truck about a month ago..

Those inner beams did switch from low to high.

Well one of them burned out so I went to replace it and found that both the projector and regular beams took the same bulb.

So I replaced them both. Now the projectors work as normal lights (low beams both sides) and the centers only come on as bright/high beams.

Is this normal? Is there some safety default that switches to the center beams if one of the projectors burns out?

I only replaced one side.

I dont think so. I had both my low beams go out at the same time and the centers did not come on.

This is simply madness

I guess I need to just forget about it since nothing's broken.
