New to the forum, but not to owning a Yukon. Have an 07 Yukon Denali XL with 140xxx miles. runs great, however the rear shocks and compressor are bad. Probably been driving this way for almost a full year. the rear shocks are original. I am debating whether to trade her in or replace the rear shocks. I am also told the front shocks are leaking (however I cannot visibly see anything). These were replaced 60,000 miles ago in 2011.

At this point, I have replaced most ball joints, control arms and CV assemblies in the front end. At 99,900 miles GM replaced the pistons, gasket, cylinder head, rings, bearings all belts, hoses plugs under warranty. Thank you GMC.

I am debating whether to bite the bullet and replace the shocks or trade her in for another Yukon with lower miles. Couple of questions:

Shocks: debating whether to replace the rears with Arnotts probably their Kit with the compressor. I do pull a Boy Scout trailer (not too heavy) but by the time you add the kids and load the back, it is fairly loaded. Funny, that I have not really noticed sagging when I do so. Alternatively, is the OEM rear shocks and compressor for a couple of hundred more. I am concerned about the Arnott conversion given my use. how much weight can be added with the conversion prior to sagging?

Trade in: Given the miles, is it worth spending more dollars at this point? I still need the space for at least another 3 years. What should I anticipate spending on repairs given these miles? First time I have retained a vehicle with this many miles.

thanks in advance.

I'm currently going throught the same dilema with my '07 which has 180K miles. Need to replace all 4 and don't know which way to go. I'm torn by the Monroe conversion kit becuase it's so cheap, but would love to get the ride comfort back with the OE parts from Amazon or eBay. I still don't have any codes that have popped up though.
Let me know what you come up with or what you decide to do.

Unfortunately, we decided to give up the Yukon. it was a difficult decision. We have battled oil consumption issues and other maintenance items since about 80k miles. it appears that my rear main seal and end cap started to leak (was not the leak above the oil filter although it was probably next). as a result, we decided to sell the truck. It needed a home with someone who is far more mechanically savvy.

that said, I would have gone with either the Arnot system with the air shocks in the rear. I would not have converted. My second choice was OEM via gmcpartsdirect their pricing was slightly more and the shop I was working with was willing to cut me a break given all the prior work on the truck for the past couple of years. I don't think you could go wrong with either.

FWIW, I did not have any codes thrown for the shocks. The truck actually ran smoothly. you could only tell when driving over rough roads or pulling a trailer. the only strange thing was 1-2 times a year (for the past couple of years) the truck would go into limp mode and say service stabilitrack. you could be on the highway and all of a sudden it would happen. Pretty scary. pull over wait a couple of minutes restart and all is well. The check engine light would then stay on for about a day and then clear. Interestingly, I had it checked while the light was on and no codes were being thrown. Not sure why it would do it and the dealership was stumped.

good luck with your decision.
