Has anyone modified their 07-14 to include a built in 110v electrical plug outlet? I know they sell the outlet, thinking about wiring an inverter under the console or seat, and cutting the center console rear like the 2015 to 2020 models and making it professional looking. Maybe also adding USB while I’m at it, or simply converting the cig to USB.

I don’t want the power inverter just laying around with wires.

Any thoughts?

Don't know why GM didn't add this to these trucks when the minivans have it.

You can get the setup with inverter out of GM minivans. I thought about doing it but don't really have the need since we bought an inverter that plugs into the cigar lighters to power the laptops.

I just hillbillied mine in with 2 wires and a fuse run from the battery, through the passenger door area (checked for a non-pinch area first), then in along the weather stripping, along the dash bottom, and screwed to the console trim panel.

It's a Schumacher 410 model with (2) 120v, and (2) USB outlets. It works great, can be turned on/off as needed, and doesn't look as redneck as I described. I've had interior inverters for my field service trucks for years. Nice to have, and this setup can be installed in about 30 minutes.

fairly easy to do just have to find a suitable location for it. I would wire it to accessory power that way you don't accidentally leave it on and run the battery dead
just ground it really well (these things make heat) and fuse it as designed. use a decent gauge wire, using a small wire can result in a meltdown
the drivers left side bottom kick panel has a junction box that would be a good place to source the keyed power
the gm upfitter guide has decent wiring diagrams for our trucks.

I’m thinking where the 2015s are. Literally just above the composites. Looks like flat black plastic and room. Thoughts?
