Like the subject says, what is your 07-Up Tahoe PPV Speedometer & Tachometer Reading @60MPH?

My 07 Tahoe PPV has 2000RPM reading while @ 60MPH. The tire size is 265/60-17 (Police package size), 4L60E 4-speed transmission, axle ratio: 3.73

Looks like the engine RPM is higher than my 12 Dodge Caravan, which has 1500RPM @60MPH even with a V6, 3.6L engine.

What is your idea and explanation?

Assuming no mechanical issues, higher RPM = lower final drive ratio. Is it possible that someone re-geared your truck to 4.10 or something? Either that or your trans isn't shifting into OD properly.

Yeah, I think that's pretty far off. I don't think I have 3.73's in my truck,3.44 or something close to that, and it's not a PPV, but it's the same trans and 4 speed. I think I'm doing close to 80 if not over that at 2000rpm's. The poster above nailed the two things I would think of also. Either re-geared, and above 4.10's for that high of an RPM at 60 IMO, or you're not getting into OD.

Will the Tow/haul button on these things prevent you from going into OD or does it just keep the TC from locking up too early? Sorry, I'm new to these trucks as well, but in general something isn't right.

To echo what Tights said above (and just for reference), I drove to Ft. Collins and back along I-25 last week, and with the cruise set at 75-80, I was just a hair under 2500 RPM, IIRC. 3.73's in mine.

Tow/Haul activates a different set of parameters for the TCM, it changes the shift points to settings more optomized for towing. As far as I know, it doesn't prevent the trans from going into OD or affect the TC lockup at all. Doubt it would have that much of an effect on RPM but it's worth looking into.

muuhahaha! the Tow haul button can do some Really fun stuff to your trans!
Just need a tuner who knows how to mod the tables properly and it opens a whole new world.

According to gear ratio calculators you have 4.10s
1,960ish or so is what you should be running
1,600ish with 3.73s

I think someone regeared you.

Ya know, with Beemdub's comment about his PPV and speed, is it possible that 4.10's are from the factory for those trucks? I know GM offers a ludicrous amount of different gears for the trucks. But if he's doing 66 at 2K, and if your calculations are correct for 1960rpm @ 60mph, maybe that's what's going on. Just a thought. In a way it would make sense since a typical PPV will want to launch hard as hell to catch up to someone and 4.10's would definitely do that..... Top end would suck, but what do they care if they wind it out.
