It depends on how the department that owned the truck wanted it set up. I know for a fact that 4.10's are offered as a no-cost option for the fleet order forms; police vehicles are built to order so it makes no difference to GM what gears they put in. I was operating off of the assumption that the OP knew for a fact that the truck had 3.73's in it, but if he didn't confirm that via the VIN then it's entirely possible that it came with 4.10's.

OK, confirmed here:

Pro code label in glove box:

GT4 / REAR AXLE, 3.73 RATIO

Z56 Police Package
Police Package Tire size: P265/60R17

(Civilian version tire size: P265/70R17)

I double checked Speedometer & tachometer readings while driving in hi-way: 65 miles/hr and 2000 RPM. My previous posting was off 5 miles/hr. Sorry for the mistaking.

The engine RPM @ 65MPH is still higher than regualr civilian version Tahoe.

Could that be police package tire size ?

Or RPO code in the glove box.

Here is a start to getting info, on new ones at least. I have a '14 on order, due in October (can't wait), I believe only gearing offered has been the 3.73's. I couldn't order any different, other than adding the Posi unit. i wanted to go numerically lower if I could have for better mileage. (personal car)
