I've also rented K2XX Tahoes several times, and although no speed demons, they perform exactly as one would expect a full size SUV to.
All three of the LWB K2XXs I rented were exactly the same, underpowered and sloppy in every way possible, and I know underpowered and sloppy.
I think both the weight and body size cross over some threshold that makes them suffer so much more than the SWB. It was actually disconcerting to the point of feeling dangerous a couple of times ... when you hit the gas hard at say 50/60mph, you don't expect a vehicle to stay in place reaching for gears.
