014 Yukon, got the Range gadget love it, whole new truck and guess what? Mileage actually improved!

On my 11 avalanche was annoying as when you stepped lightly on the gas and went back to V8 felt like a miss for a second, tuned it out way better and did no change the mileage at all. also have a 11 escalade, 6.2, it would not go in to 4 mode much at all, but killed a lifter/cam etc @ 70k replaced everything and tuned that out as well...

It seems to me its only kicking down to 4cyl mode when going down a hill or decelerating! Is this normal I thought it would be in 4cyl mode when cruise is set or steady speed on flat ground? This is my first tahoe and newest vehicle I have ever owned so I don't know what is normal!

Normal operation for a 07-14 model. The newer 15+ engines hold V4 mode longer. You will be hard pressed to keep it in V4 on a flat at more than about 60 mph, probably only downhill at 70.
