How reliable is the 09-10 GM SUV powertrain vs the previous models, cause it's time to get momma another one. Those of you who hace put some mileage on yours, i'd like to know what you think your truck and what problems you've encountered that you thought was unusual.

She currently drives a 97 Yuk that just turned 200k I purchased from a private owner w/21k in (99). She wants another SUV so I'm considering another slightly used GM product or a (09-10 Toyota Sequoia) cause I drive a 2k tundra w/130k miles and have had no issues.

Our 97 Yuk has gone thru 2 (4l60e), intake gasket replacement, fuel pump, starter and as expected water pump, rad, 2-alt and numerous brake changes as expected. But that 5.7L (350) is bullet proof.

Thanks
BigD

Not sure I would worry about the duribility of the new gen tahoe. I bought mine new in Feb 2007, and now have 178,000 on the clock. Motor and drivetrain still function as new. Wouldn't hesitate to take mine cross country if needed

Thanks to all for your replies. I am really considering another GM SUV and I know some changes were made on the 08's which is why I prefer a 09 and hpefully some of the bugs from the previous year changes would have been caught (but not necesarily corrected i.e 4l60e & intake gasket issues)

I'm fortunate to be able to do most of the maintenace on my vehicles (with the help of my cousin and at his shop) once the warranty has expired. So I plan to purchase one from a private sellar under 30k miles, well maintained and a clean record, like I've done for my past three vehicles owned over the past 20 years. I was pissed to see the 97 yuk 4l60 crap out at 57k and it was happening to a lot of gm truck owners

I see the biggest complaint about the new genration is the 6-speed shifting and i've seen post re: reprogramming the tranny for better ******* points. What's up with that.
