This thing is kind of a dog. Just cruising around town in residential areas it shifts into 5th and 6th gear. And when you step on it sometimes it hesitates to downshift to get going. At WOT it shifts pretty well. Even at partial throttle it shifts well. Just noticed a couple of traits that are somewhat annoying. Just seems like it always wants to be in 5th or 6th when cruising around. Hopefully when the AutoCal comes out I can get this taken care of by Justin.

Yep, all true. I've posted about this before. I especially like the occasional surge you get when slowing (well, INTENDING to slow down) to a stop from slower speeds.

I'm hoping a quick Predator tune will help some with the tranny. I'm told it does/will.

I am not sure the Predator will fix anything since it doesn't have TCM support. Right now the only option is an in-person tune from BlackBear or an $799 EFILive FlashScanV2 purchase. Until Predator supports TCM or the AutoCal comes out I think I am stuck.

Why is the in-person tune your only option? You can have Justin mail you a tune and install it yourself for fairly cheap.

The TCM's are actually inside the transmission on the 6-speed and need to be tuned in person. You can tune the 4-speeds with a mail-order, but not the 6-speeds.

That being said... BlackBear will make that beast come alive. The shifting difference post-tune is jaw-dropping.

Exactly. Only way to tune the 6-speed TCM is via live tune, purchasing a FlashScanV2 or ultimately the AutoCal which still isn't out yet. I was also reading on the DiabloSport forum that they have been working on TCM support but again, no word of when it will be available. Waiting game right now. I just don't think I would have the time to learn to tune to justify the $799 FlashScanV2 cost.

Never new that. Interesting.

In the meantime, try leaving it in tow mode. I have read that it keeps it in gear longer and helps a little with the 6 SP shifting quality (more crisp). I only have the 4 SP, but occationally I use tow mode in the city if I am driving spiritedly.

Let us know if it helps. Of course the BB tune is solution.

I think the stock program is set up to stack shifts, causing all the BS...

my truck will be tuned as soon as i put about 1k on it. My friend is even working on some free products (LT's, Whipple's, Magnacharger, exhaust, CAI, etc. for my truck. He did it with my TBSS from manufacturers, his shop is always in GMHTP & Super Chevy, etc) to install on my denali.

Trying to get a Dyno tune day in the upcoming months at my friend's performance shop. He has an AWD load bearing Mustang Dyno that fits Yukon Denalis and can even dyno full size Pickups (sans AWD only 2/4 wheel). I think if i got enough guys signed up we could get the price down to a fraction of what a regular tune would cost.. I will talk to the mods and see what i can post without him being a sponsor (yet, i'm working on him lol) to benefit th local NY/NJ/PA/DE area guys.. sorry for the thread hijack, but these guys are right a tune will fix it..

Just my $.02 if you live near a respected tuner, there is no better way to be tuned except to be on a load bearing Dyno.. One that ramps up resistance to simulate the drag as you cut through the air. Something a Dynojet, or mail order tune can't do.. Basic simple TM adjustments or deletions, speed limiter, shift points, different story. But a performance tune should be done on a Dyno like i described above. Any real performance enthusiast would agree. otherwise you're dabbling in the unknown and the effects of the non-dyno tune could reap havoc in the long term..

Now there are exceptions to the rule. $$$$ if you don't have it and go with the less expensive tune just don't be too aggressive with the timing. geographical location? if there isn't a respectable or trustworthy dyno tuner in your area or worth the trip a coupl hours away again go with the mail order. Just a few tips on what i've learned since obdII came out.
