1.5din or conversion...

anyone ever find a 1.5din or did they convert to a 1.5 din? need input

I think yours is pre 03 model, the head unit opening is about 3.3". I am looking for a DVD receiver for my 01 Yukon as well.

So far, I have these single DIN candidates with a little larger screen sizes, but still fit in (no flip-up please):

Not many reviews available for these models, except Pyle. I really don't want spend a lot of money/effort to install one of them, and find it broken in three months.

I try not to do double DINs, if these is a single DIN solution (not 3" screen though).

a DD is not hard to install in the 1.5 din opening. requires removing cage and cutting the back off, DD dash bezel or trim original, 2 wood blocks bolted to cage for DD to bolt to. it goes back to stock by removing 4 screws and wood blocks

hmm, i was thinking about something like this for my truck too. but i just tried searching crutchfield & nothing really came up.

no one has done anything like this? i'm really thinking of doing something like this to avoid the extra trouble of installing a double din. but additional feedback would be appreciated.

So to convert from 1.5 to DD trim the cage and use a '03 bezel? The HVAC control panel is the same?

i used my original bezel, but a 03+ would not require trimming.

the 03 + bezel doesn't require trimming, but from what i've read you still have to modify the cage as the HVAC controls would have to come down a little in the cage. to require no trimming at all, you would have to get the cage & the bezel.
