Just because.

I live in Maine and the biggest thing you see around here is some dura max on 37" tires. I don't want to be that guy. I want to be the guy duramax guys envy. Also I don't ever want to get stuck again hahah. It's been done. I know two of the same year and one is a Tahoe and the other a Yukon. They both have 40x15.5. The short answer is because I can.

Trust me I'm all for big tires I have an s10 blazer on 1 tons and 37's that will be getting a set of 40s so I'm not knocking you at all I just know that that is a lot of tire on the factory drivetrain that isn't meant to handle anything close to that large/heavy of a tire. especially if you plan to wheel it at all. Huge tires aren't going to prevent you from getting stuck either especially if you aren't planning a regear because you will be so down on power that you aren't going to be able to spin those tires to get any traction to begin with! Also your trans will be smoked in no time! The other two your referring to do you have pics of them and are you certain they aren't SFA? I really don't see you fitting a 40x15.5 on one of these things without some serious body modification as well as lift that's a crazy wide tire and will be hitting fender and bumper every time you turn. Again I'm not knocking what you want to do at all I just want to make sure you know what your really getting into with this so you don't get half way there and be like "shit what did I get myself into" like you see in build threads all over the internet with posts a year or two later saying "I never finished it and sold it" for a final post!

You can see I love big vehicles. I'm 6'4" and my little s10 Blazer is still significantly taller than me so I understand your desire lol!

Yes I realize the risk. I will eventually be doing a solid axle swap. Also I am upgrading gears in both front and rear. I'll be going with 4.56 gears. I really do have a plan as much as it probably seems like I dont.

Alright as long as you know what your getting into that's all I was trying accomplish! I really would like to see what you end up with in the end for sure! The red one looks ok but that black thing is just F****** hideous IMHO! Just remember in the end its your truck and do what makes you happy with it and not what some ******* on the internet like myself says you should do with it lol!

14 bolt Corp (free floating) and Dana 60 front minimum if you really want to be able to use it.

The amount of torque you will be putting on those stock axles with those huge tires will cost you even with gearing down... screw that. Do it right.

If not done right the first time all you will have is a big paper weight! Also 4.56's is not near low enough for 40's !!!!

Do any of you guys realize what you are saying? Ok if you want to tires to spin faster you want a taller gear, which is a lower number gear. (3.73) the gear has nothing to do with how the tires roll from a stop. I am building a mud truck not a crawler. If I was building a crawler I would want a shorter gear or a higher number gear. (5.13) not my cup of tea. I want the tires to spin faster at lower rpm for mud that is why I can comfortably stick with the stock gear for now without a problem and upgrade later if I don't like the torque from the stock gear. I understand that a lot of jeep guys use shorter gears so that they can crawl at a higher rpm at a lower speed. Not what I want.

Also I am going to keep the IFS because the swap is to big of a project for right now.
