Last night I was finally able to work on the diff again. I couldn't let the broken cross pin shaft get the better of me any longer. I used a 12" 3/16 drill bit and a right angle drill to center drill the broken bolt. Then I used an easy out to back the remaining piece out.
From there I removed the c clips and slid the axles out.
Next I removed the pinion nut with a block of wood wedged in the ring gear to keep it from turning. Then I removed the main caps and popped the carrier out.
