Well I just got back from a 1600 mile road trip and all went well except not real impressed with mileage. Went through 5 tanks of gas and best was just over 17 mpg and worst being 14 mpg. Other then the 14 mpg tank it was all hwy driving most of the time cruise was set. It got 16 mpg one tank on a stretch that I was running 75-80 the whole tank cruise set. There was 4 ppl and 2 dogs in the car and luggage for 4 days so I wasn't pulling a big load. I was wondering what you guys thought about my mileage?

Oh and all were figured at the pump not going by the DIC

Mileage seems low to be honest. My Denali XL AWD got that mileage on our big trip back east last summer. Usually 17-19 mpg on the highway, cruising 5 over the speed limit (70-75). Worst was heading west across Wyoming at around 15.5 mpg. Big headwind that was enough to reduce the 18 wheeler's speed to around 65-70.

My load was 4 people (around 430lbs) and luggage for 2 weeks (probably another 300-400 lbs, plus gifts on the way there and souvenirs on the way back).

As far as CAI/tunes goes if your primary reason to get them is gas mileage then you'll never get your initial cost back (kind of like Hybrid vehicles).

Its a big SUV so I dont expect to get the best mpg. It does some kind of weak compared to my little truck, which the hoe weights lots more and is in stock state of tune. I would be nice to have more pep and if I get more MPG then thats a bonus.

I drive 80miles one way to work and I get 18mpg almost all the time. but then again its just me and usually some luggage

I was kind of thinking that the 6.2 doesn't have to work as hard as my little 5.3 and with the 6 speed requires less throttle to get up to speed. May be wrong...

I headed south from southeast Ks to east Tx into a decent head wind and then headed east to New Orleans. I would say we had around 700 lbs in car with the 4 ppl, 2 dogs, luggage, and dog kennels.....
