I hated the 8sp in my 2018 Z71 Colorado so much that it's what prompted me to sell it during covid 2020 and get my 04 z71 tahoe (which I still have and love). But my point is.... I thought all 8spds were trash like that until I drove some newer crops of 8sp and 10sp vehicles.

The 8sp was in a 2023 Wrangler and that transmission has some very awesome split times. I really wanted to buy a new wrangler just because of that alone. So fun to rip around. If I paid some serious coin to have a transmission guy build me a modified auto to shift like that, I would be a very satisfied customer.

The 8 speed thats in the Dodge/Jeep products is the ZF8 or something like that and is also used in a lot of higher end German cars as well. It's a damn fine transmission and I think it might shift just a touch faster than a stock 10 speed. But there is a lot of support for the 10sp already and after tuning they are insane fast.

The big deal with the 10SP is the additional ratios down low for launch and at highway cruise lower RPM for better milage, quieter ride.

For those of us who geeked out on the difference between the 4 & 6 speed, the 10SP compares like the 6.0L in a 06 Denali to the 6.2L in an 07 Denali.
