I was out today trying to move my truck back so I could finish shoveling the snow. I had it in 2 wheel and did nothing but spin tires so I switched to 4. It started to move a little and then it just stopped. There are no lights on any of the buttons. When I shift it into reverse or foward I can hear a slight grinding noise and when I put it pack into park the noise it sounds like something whining down (very loud) and then stops. I can put it in gear and give it gas and it just sits there. Please help

Doesn't Matter
That does sound like a horrible problem. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me shows up to help.
I would first start by draining some of the fluid out of the transmission and transfer case and see if there is anything odd in there. Like metal bits.

Sounds like your Sun Shell is broken. When I bought my 98 Tahoe it was doing the same thing. I paid 1200 for her and I never rebuilt a trany before so I bought it and did the work my self. Working on the 4L60E trany wasn't that hard. I got some quotes to let them rebuild it and I couldn't believe how much they wanted. For OEM parts and rebuild was between 1500 to 1800. I got after market parts ( witch was stronger) for 500 with all the pullers. I'm not knocking them but if you are 1/2 way mechanical you can do it your self in a day. They have a dvd that goes step by step for the rebuild. The new Sun Shell is called the Beast. Get it and you will never have that problem again and by putting stronger parts I never have to worry about it again.

Since you describe your-shift buttons does not lights check your fuse and report here if fuse 2,4 or 24 is blown. Your shift motor/encoder may have just failed and did not shift completely. It would be best if you do not use your transmission until this is solved. The t-case should be addressed first. If you have a free spinning t-case that is not locked to any axles your tranny output shaft going into the t-case will just run wild so when you put it into park the sound you heard spinning down was the parking brake prawl trying to the reaction internal gear inside the tranny as its shaft was slowing down which is what locks your vehicle in place. But with a disengaged t-case there is no vehicle lock. How far are you willing to deal with this on your own? Let me know. BTW use your manual parking brake system now and let me know if your battery suddenly dies overnight. If you do have to shift your tranny put it in when you are done neutral for 15 seconds and then quickly put it in park or shut the engine off before doing so which will slow it down faster without damage. And you parking prawl in the tranny should have survived.

Thank you so much sunlitcomet. I had checked fuse 24 last night and it was good. I checked the other two and found that fuse 2 was blown. I put a new on in and turned the key to on and saw all my lights light up so I started it up and saw the 4 hi blinking, pushed it to 2 hi and shifted and MY TRUCK MOVED!!! Guess my question is what caused it to blow. I did not even bother to check the other fuses since the only thing that mentions 4x4 is fuese 12. I am not that mechanically inclined, but I do like to do my own work. I can turn a wrench. I was starting to get worried because it was blocking my wifes tahoe and she was threatening me with selling. Thanks again.

Fuse 2 supplies the motor power which is switched by the tccm relays. If it happens again and you t-case feels like it shifts normally otherwise then replace you motor encoder assy. It is more inclined to fail then the tccm relays. Jammed relays would have killed your battery without blowing a fuse. You could also extract a trouble code from the tccm for a more definate clue if it happens again as it probaly has wiped it by now. How are the rest of your drivetrain functions running?
