I am in the process of replacing everything power steering in my Wifes Burb. The pump started whining real bad and after i tried changing the sparkly fluid a couple weeks ago, so i decided to change pump, gear box (It has a case leak) and the hoses. I the old pump has the Solenoid for the speed sensitive steering. I found a couple places that state it should not be a big deal replacing this with a "standard" style pump. Is this true? What are the thoughts here? Will this cause a light on the dash?

Thanks ahead of time

Yeah, no issues at all. Just tape up the plug out of the way so it's not hanging there.

When I replaced the PS pump on my old K3500 shortly after I bought it in 2019, that's what the instructions said on the replacement remanufactured pump. Honestly, I didn't even know what that EVO system was back then; I'd never seen that solenoid on my other truck, so I just followed the instructions.

No dash lights.

Ok i want to start by saying i got everything back together. On initial start up after replacement, the steering seemed fine while i cycled it to purge all the air out of the pump and gear. No after a couple of days, there is no power steering at idle/low speed, almost like the pump quit. When you rev the engine a bit it comes back a bit, at highway speeds it acts fine.

I looked over my work , and noticed one thing. Looking at the old gear, it appears that the ports are swapped compared to what the new gear has.

New one the with the line locations swapped.

Thoughts suggestions?

Thanks ahead of time.
