I have a 1999 Yukon SLT . The lights on the 4wd switch don't function but I had it checked by a mechanic and he says the switch is working correctly. I can hear the tranny switching in and out of 4hi into 4lo but I hear nothing when I press the 2hi button or 4wd auto. i intend to replace the switch today but still would like some opinions. When the truck is supposedly in 2Hi I still feel "Feedback" in the steering like the front end is locked in especially when turning hard. Although the mechanic and his little machine says otherwise I cant get it out of my head that the trucks front end is still locked in. Is it my imagination or is this normal, I have owned 4wds all my life so the "feeling" comes from some experience with 4wds. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Does it lurch when driving on pavement and the wheels at full lock?

If so, it's locked in still.

Thanks for the reply

Any chance you could put it up on blocks, stands or a lift and see what's turning? I've got a similar light problem with mine (sometimes the 2wd light is on sometimes its not). I have to get a dual cardan drive shaft for the front due to a lift and lower gears causing vibration. Once I get the new front shaft in I plan on putting mine on blocks to see if everything is functioning properly.
