Buy a reman long block exchange & drop the transmission off to rebuilt while the shop has it out, that vehicle is a keeper since they age so well; might as spend a few bucks once and be set for another 300k

Labor is going to be the pitfall of doing a rebuild. Ideally you’ll want a local Indi diesel shop to do the job. They’re enthusiasts as well as VERY tolerance minded for longevity.

Whether it’s diesel or a gas engine try to get the trans and motor ordered pre-rebuilt by the shop. Tell them how special your Baby is and they’ll take care of both of you forever.

Yes, this is my only vehicle. I have around 5k just looking for how much more I needed to save. I will definitely call around here in area, I'm in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to see what is available. I'm just at complete loss of direction in what to do. I appreciate all the help. And, Big Mama, Thank you
D&W down in Ada has a 2000 vin T with 153K for $875. Not a bad deal. Car-part.com shows all salvage yards across USA that are registered. I used OKC 73127 zip code for search for 2000 Yukon 1500 Engine.
Might be a good option to change out engine while shop has your tranny and then tow vehicle to shop for tranny install. Most shops dont like carry ins or wont warranty as well so let them do the install and backflush your radiator/tranny cooler and get the full warranty from them. Tell them your plan and they will likely work with you. Drop the tranny off on a Friday. Install engine over the weekend and have it towed in after you are done with engine install.
